How did the "mud legs" who once faced the loess with their backs to the sky become a peasant painter? How did peasant painting become a new way for villagers to get rich? We went into Shuicheng District to find out.
It is understood that the Shuicheng peasant painting originated in 1983, and its creative techniques are mainly to migrate the techniques and colors of batik, flower picking, embroidery, and paper-cutting from the cloth to the paper, and most of the content is based on the production and life of local ethnic minorities, folk customs, natural scenery, etc. Because it originated in Shuicheng District, it is called Shuicheng Peasant Painting. Over the years, it has formed a unique artistic style and artistic language, and has experienced a process from theme publicity, realistic creation, and rural return to diversified development.
While cultivating the industrial chain of peasant painting, Shuicheng District also focuses on cultivating local peasant painting talents and inheriting peasant painting skills. In the peasant studio of the Steep Town Campus of the No. 19 Middle School of the city, the students are using their brushes to vividly reproduce the regional features of Steep Basket and express their hometown feelings.
