On May 14th, the senior translator of the newspaper "Reference News" was invited to Beijing Second University of Foreign Chinese to bring a special lecture on "Chinese Stories, World Stories - China's New Era and New Atmosphere Written by Foreign Media" for teachers and students.

Zhuang Yang, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the Second Foreign Language, welcomed the "Reference News" digital newspaper into the campus of the Second Foreign University. He pointed out that reading the "Reference News" is an effective channel to understand the international situation and expand the global vision. This year is the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Second Foreign Language School, in order to promote the tasks of the Ninth Party Congress and do a good job in the implementation of the main line of "Sino-foreign cultural exchanges", the Propaganda Department of the Second Foreign Language Party Committee will focus on external communication in the near future and organize a series of lectures and practical internships for media professionals to enter the campus, and this lecture is the first of a series of activities. He expressed his gratitude for the strong support of the Reference News Newspaper, and hoped to work with the Reference News Newspaper to create a high-quality ideological and political education platform through lectures, digital newspapers and other carriers, and contribute to the growth of young people in the new era.

This special lecture first reviewed the long history and characteristics of Reference News, which was founded in 1931, and then introduced the newspaper's active exploration of the integration and development of new media in the wave of digitalization.
Subsequently, the lecture combined with the "Chinese Story World Story" column launched by "Reference News" in January 2022, according to the six themes of "Youth Talk, Rural Talk, Innovation Talk, National Tide Talk, Life Talk, and Let's Talk", listed reporting cases, and deeply analyzed how international media reflect China's new era and new atmosphere. These overseas media reports on China either start from a small incision, use a comparison between the past and the present, or break stereotypes, vividly showing China's image of continuous rise, change and development on the international stage. At the same time, the lecture also discussed the experience that Chinese media can learn from international communication and the direction of their efforts as a reference.
