Sun Bin, formerly known as Sun Boling, is a descendant of Sun Wu, a famous general of Qi (i.e., the author of "The Art of War"), and studied the art of war under the famous hermit Guiguzi with Pang Juan. Although the two are brothers in the same class, Pang Juan is narrow-minded and jealous of Sun Bin's talent, fearing that he will surpass him in his career.
Pang Juan's vicious framing
After Pang Juan became the general of Wei, he designed to lure Sun Bin to Wei, and used his power to frame Sun Bin and make him suffer torture - that is, he was cut off his kneecaps, making him unable to stand and walk, and at the same time tattooed words on his face and inflicted punishment, intending to completely destroy Sun Bin's dignity and military talent, so that he could neither play a role on the battlefield nor gain a foothold in the court. These extreme measures reflect Pang Juan's desire for power and ruthlessness towards his peers.
Sun Bin's forbearance and escape
In the face of sudden bad luck, Sun Bin did not despair, he adopted the strategy of pretending to be crazy and stupid, and successfully deceived Pang Juan's surveillance and lowered the other party's vigilance. Revenge strategy and victory
After arriving in the Qi State, Sun Bin was appreciated by Tian Ji and gradually emerged in the Qi army. He used his military talents to face Pang Juan on the battlefield twice, showing extraordinary strategy and determination for revenge.
The first time was in the Battle of Guiling, Sun Bin adopted the strategy of "besieging Wei to save Zhao", forcing Pang Juan to return to help, and set up an ambush in Guiling, defeating the Wei army.
The second time was in the battle of Maling, Sun Bin was even more ingenious in the layout, using the reduction of the stove to lure the enemy into depth, creating the illusion of weak troops, and at the same time setting up an ambush in the narrow terrain, and finally on the Maling Road, with the help of night and terrain advantages, laid down an "ambush on all sides", Pang Juan strayed into the trap under the guidance of the fire signal, and was surrounded by the Qi army. In this battle, Pang Juan was cornered, knowing that he could not escape death, he chose to commit suicide and ended his life.
Sun Bin's revenge is not only a military victory, but also a victory of wisdom and strategy. He did not choose direct violent revenge, but through the battle on the battlefield, he used his own way to govern others, and finally let Pang Juan reap the consequences, and at the same time preserved his own reputation, made great contributions to the Qi country, and restored his dignity.
