However, to everyone's surprise, the United States has not made much noise on this issue, probably because it has found that not too many countries in the Asia-Pacific region are willing to help it.
In the past, the United States was like the "big brother" of the world, and as long as it waved its hand, many countries would follow it. But now, on the Taiwan Strait issue, the United States seems to be a little alone. Although the United States has many "little brothers" in the world, on the Asia-Pacific side, the two most important "little brothers" -- Japan and South Korea -- are now busy with their own affairs and no longer listen to the United States for everything as before. South Korea is now trying to build good relations with China, and Japan is also engaging in military exchanges with China, and the relationship between the two countries is getting closer to China and some distance from the United States.
Other "little brothers" of the United States, such as Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines, are also thinking about their own interests and may end up choosing not to take sides. At the same time, Russia and North Korea have made it clear that they support China and that they may join China in countering US actions in the Asia-Pacific region if the need arises.
Some experts predict that if a war really breaks out in the Taiwan Strait, in addition to the two major countries of China and the United States, nine other countries may be involved. This means that if there is a real fight, the entire Asia-Pacific region could be affected. So, from this point of view, the United States is in a very difficult position in this crisis, with few "friends" to rely on.
So why is the United States in such a predicament? This is mainly due to the fact that the United States made two serious mistakes strategically. First of all, the United States regards the Taiwan issue as a bargaining chip with China, but it fails to realize that for China, the Taiwan issue is very important and must not be compromised.
The United States thought it would be able to get its allies in the Asia-Pacific region to help it deal with China, as it had done before. But now China is very strong, and it has good relations with Russia. In the face of such a China, America's allies will naturally choose to keep their distance and will not blindly support the United States.
The Chinese military's exercises in the Taiwan Strait are actually telling the world three important things. First, China will resolutely protect its territory and security. Second, China needs to warn Asia-Pacific countries that may want to make trouble. Third, China also needs to show its hesitant US allies that it is more reliable to cooperate with China than to follow the United States.
The Asia-Pacific region is not the same as it used to be, and the influence of the United States is weakening. In the Taiwan Strait crisis, the United States has few allies to mobilize, which greatly reduces its strategic capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region. The mistakes made by the United States in handling the Taiwan issue have exposed its strategic shortcomings.
Now, the countries of the Asia-Pacific region are thinking about their own interests, and they will not easily get involved in a war for the sake of the United States. Japan and South Korea, including Japan, are trying to build a good relationship with China and try to maintain a balance between China and the United States, rather than easily choosing to side with the United States. And Russia and North Korea are unequivocally in favor of China.
Thus, in the Asia-Pacific region, the United States has lost its past appeal, while at the same time, China is cooperating with Russia and other countries to jointly contain U.S. unilateral hegemony. China's influence is growing, both militarily and diplomatically, and it is becoming an important force for stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
Finally, I would like to ask a question: Who is undermining peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region? For decades, countries such as China and Russia have been trying to maintain peace and stability, while the United States has always provoked contradictions and confrontations. Now, the United States is again creating trouble on the Taiwan issue and undermining peace in the Asia-Pacific region. Isn't this the greatest threat to peace?
Today, the United States has lost its ability and qualification to dominate the situation in the Asia-Pacific region. Only a new paradigm dominated by emerging powers such as China and Russia can bring true peace, stability and prosperity to the Asia-Pacific region. If the United States continues to insist on going its own way, it will only end up being isolated by the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
