May 12, 2024 is the 16th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in mainland China, with the theme of "Everyone Stresses Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies - Strive to Improve Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance Capabilities".
In order to further improve the county's teachers and students' awareness of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction and emergency response ability in response to sudden disasters, at nine o'clock in the morning of May 11, the Emergency Bureau, a member of the Pinglu County Disaster Reduction Committee, together with the County Education Bureau, the County Health Bureau, the County Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction Center, and the County People's Hospital, held an earthquake prevention and disaster reduction drill in Pinglu County in the first junior high school. Zhang Shouhua, member of the Standing Committee of the county party committee and deputy county magistrate, attended and announced the start of the drill, deputy county magistrate Qian Bo served as the commander-in-chief, the members of the county disaster reduction committee and the heads of the county's campuses participated in the drill, and Liu Shihong, the principal of the first junior high school, served as the commander-in-chief of the drill.
In this drill, 27 classes participated and 1,239 teachers and students were evacuated. The whole drill reached the expected goal, and all staff were able to enter their respective posts in strict accordance with the emergency plan; Under the command of the teacher, all students quickly left the dangerous place and evacuated to a safe area according to the emergency evacuation safety route. All teachers and students were safely evacuated in the shortest possible time, and maintained a safe and good order and rapid response ability during the drill.

It is hoped that the school will take this drill as an opportunity to organize and carry out safety knowledge training, safety knowledge competition, safety prevention and evacuation drills in a timely manner, strengthen the investigation and management of potential safety hazards in and around the campus, improve the ability of teachers and students to deal with sudden disasters and accident prevention and emergency response and personal processing, and strive to create a safe, harmonious and peaceful campus environment!
Through this exercise, all teachers and students once again learned about the knowledge of emergency avoidance when an earthquake occurs, mastered the protective measures and methods taken in the initial response to the earthquake, and the emergency avoidance, self-rescue and self-protection of teachers and students have also been further improved.
