On May 17, the Foshan Ancestral Temple Museum launched the "Ancient and Humble Spirits - Shiwan Pottery and Sculpture Treasures Exhibition from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China", exhibiting 101 Shiwan dolls from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, which will last until June 23.
Shiwan kiln is a folk kiln, Shiwan doll is also derived from the folk pottery art, its works are lively, vigorous and rough, simple and straightforward, with a strong local atmosphere and regional characteristics, they are the epitome of all aspects of people's life in the past dynasties, condensed the production situation, customs and life aesthetics of the society at that time, and has a certain historical value and artistic value.
Among the works on display, the themes include story characters, ordinary people and ordinary creatures, etc., and there are many famous works by Huang Guzhen, Chen Weiyan, Pan Yushu, Liu Zuochao, Liang Fu, Liu Chuan, etc., which comprehensively reflect the overall style and development of Shiwan pottery sculpture from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.
