The survival rate of reindeer cubs not only determines the income of reindeer farmers, but also affects the stable development of the reindeer population. In recent years, the Genhe Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government have promoted the reindeer conservation work in an orderly manner, implemented the pilot project of reindeer insurance, and a total of 19 farmers have insured 539 reindeer, and tried to install electronic chips for the reindeer for the first time to help farmers effectively deal with the difficulties restricting the development of the reindeer industry, such as animal damage, diseases and natural disasters, and further enhance the ability of reindeer breeding support, improve the population structure, expand the scale of the reindeer population, and continuously improve the scientific and standardized breeding level.
At the same time, in order to solve the problem of inbreeding and population degradation of the reindeer population, the Genhe Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government actively promoted the cultural exchanges between Aoluguya and Russia, Mongolia and other regions, and established a "foreign experts + local talents" help mechanism to improve the litter rate of reindeer. After several years of unremitting efforts, the reindeer inbreeding situation has been significantly improved, the reindeer population has increased year by year, at present, the reindeer population in Genhe City is more than 1,400 heads, this year is expected to give birth to more than 400 heads, and the number of reindeer population is expected to exceed more than 1,600 in 2024.
