On the afternoon of May 15, at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Nanjing East Road Street "Zero Distance Home" Governance College and the "Zero Distance Party Building Work Workshop", Hu Yong, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the street, placed high hopes on the students.
As the core area of Shanghai, Nanjing East Road Street has always been a model of urban governance. In order to deeply practice the important concept of "people's city", the street established the "Zero Distance Social Work College", a social work cultivation and practice platform, in 2020. In 2023, the college will further integrate the resources of the jurisdiction, upgrade to the "Zero Distance Home" Governance College, and launch innovative practical courses, such as "One Day Community People", which enhances the mutual understanding between community workers and building white-collar workers through identity exchange.
This year, the street further integrated the relevant functional departments, urban party schools, colleges and universities and other forces, and jointly participated in the overall planning and curriculum setting of the School of Governance, with the cultivation idea of "comprehensive empowerment, resource integration, and 'digital governance' embedded", and launched the "Four Geese Flying Together" plan and the "dual tutor (theory + business)" teaching model, providing personalized training according to the different backgrounds and experiences of the students.
In the "Four Geese Fly Together" plan, the "Lingyan Plan" aims to improve the performance ability and leadership of the director and deputy director of the neighborhood committee, and at the same time enrich the reserve force of the faculty pool of the School of Governance. The "Strong Goose Project" aims to improve the execution of all social workers in residential areas, and launches the "1+1" training model of "foundation + strong construction" to improve comprehensive literacy and professional practice ability. The "Wild Goose Project" has the widest coverage of training objects, aiming to unite the centripetal force of grassroots governance backbones, carry out practical special training courses, and improve the participation ability and level of community self-governance forces. The "Young Goose Project" focuses on improving the shaping power of new social workers, and ensures that social workers can quickly master governance skills and provide professional services to residents through thematic course training.
At the opening ceremony, the School of Governance also carefully planned the sharing session of "Alley Premier" and the TED talk of "One Day Community People", which received unanimous praise from the students. The song of the School of Governance, "Chuxin Yao Nandong", was first released, which showed the students' demeanor of serving the community and strengthened everyone's determination and confidence to contribute to building a beautiful "zero-distance home" in Nanjing East Road Street.

The salon course "Alley Premier" is also one of the highlights of this year's Governance Academy, which aims to cultivate students' leadership, problem-solving ability and oral expression skills in participating in governance, and let students improve their practical ability and gain indirect experience through case sharing. At the opening ceremony, Xu Juan, a student of the "Lingyan Project", Secretary of the General Party Branch and Director of the Neighborhood Committee of Xiaohuayuan Residential Area, Cao Jian, a student of the Strong Goose Program and a community worker in Jiangyin Residential Area, Teng Min, a student of the "Group Goose Project" and the leader of the service team of the Xiaoshuizhu Project, and Xu Wenhua, a student of the "Young Goose Project" and a new social worker in 2023, shared their respective governance practice stories. In the TED talk session of "One Day Community People", Zhou Wenyun, a student of the "Wild Goose Project" and secretary of the Party branch of Shanghai Nielsen Market Research Co., Ltd., took the stage to share the pressure growth point of consumer groups in 2024 with the theme of "New Quality Productivity and Grassroots Governance", providing reference for students to broaden their horizons and better carry out mass work and grassroots governance.
It is worth mentioning that the opening ceremony was carried out in the "Zero Distance Home" Square Post Party and Mass Service Center (hereinafter referred to as the Square Station) in Nanjing East Road Street, which was officially completed and put into trial operation in April this year, and is the first block-level comprehensive service position built by Nanjing East Road Street. The square post specially set up a "one-day community" experience wall, which comprehensively displayed the innovative practice course brand "one-day community" of the School of Governance.
