On May 17, Beijing time, the Indian Table Tennis Association (TTFI) announced the list of Indian table tennis teams participating in the Paris Olympics. Manica Batra, the first sister who has recently become famous for her victory over Wang Manyu, leads the Indian table tennis Olympic main draw lineup, while the strange rubber whirlwind sisters Mukherjee both failed to make the team list. Please see below for details.
The Indian table tennis team is on the list of participants for the Paris Olympics
Men's Singles: Achanta, Desai
Women's Singles: Batra, Akula
Men's team: Achanta, Desai, Taka
Girl group: Batra, Akula, Kamas
Men's P card: Ghanasekaran
Women's P card: Ashika Mukherjee
There are several "surprises" in this list of Indian table tennis:
First, the first brother of the men's team, Gana Sekaran, was abandoned
The main reason for this is that in the last two years, Ghanasekaran has focused on mixed doubles, and his mixed doubles pair with Batra originally had the strength and hope to get a direct ticket to Paris, but in the mixed doubles qualifying tournament for the Paris Olympics, Ghanasekaran/Batra were defeated by North Korea's mysterious Lee Jung-sik/Kim Jin-young, and missed the mixed doubles competition at the Paris Olympics.
Ghanasekaran is a strong player in singles, having defeated Wang Chuqin and Tomokazu Zhangmoto, and he also played an active role in the men's team qualification for the Paris Olympics in Busan. It is indeed a pity to miss the Olympic qualification this time.
Second, the Mukherjee sisters were both excluded from the team lineup
The Mukherjee sisters have indeed blown a whirlwind of strange rubber in the past two years, especially on the doubles front, the two of them have almost defeated all the strongest combinations in the past row, two strange rackets, four different sets of special rubber, and N different variations.
But the problem with the Mukherjee sisters is that they have average singles results, and they can only match the two of them in women's doubles, and they can't match others. So, this trait makes it difficult for them to make it to the team squad unless they are selected at the same time. However, with Batra's recent strong recovery and Akula's stability, the Mukherjee sisters are unable to bring down these two trees, so they have to accept the result of being left out.
Ashika Mukherjee (sister) got the opportunity to get a P card because her soft arc resistant rubber is currently the only one in the world, and once activated, it also has a certain possibility of an upset.
Third, Batra and Akula are easy spoilers
Batra and Akula are the two most stable in the Indian Monster Rubber sister group, Batra's backhand long rubber and Akula's forehand rush, both of them have broken through the main players of national table tennis, and in the competition with the head players of other associations, they can also fight on a par.
Considering that the Olympics is the highest-level competition, the pressure in the competition is the highest, which means that Batra and Akula's special weird rubber has more room for upsets, and any player who does not know enough about their special rubber and is not fully prepared may capsize, and the Indian double sister has the strength to wreak havoc in Paris.
