2K will be showcasing the next release of a hit game at the Summer Game Fest

It has been revealed that publisher 2K will present the next release of one of its "biggest and most popular series" at the Summer Game Festival on Friday, June 7. While it was not revealed which series the announcement might be associated with, 2K has previously confirmed that it is working on new titles for its BioShock and Mafia series.

Developer Hangar 13 confirmed last year that a new Mafia game is in development, but claims it is still "a few years" away from release. Recently, 2K is allegedly preparing to make an announcement related to Mafia.

Meanwhile, 2K announced in December 2019 that the development of a new game in the BioShock franchise had begun and would take place "in the coming years".

It is worth mentioning that Jonathan Palin will serve as the design director of the new version of BioShock, who was the designer of the original BioShock and the creative director of the 2K Australian team responsible for the floating world of Infinity in Colombia.

The creative director of the new BioShock is Hoagy de la Plante, who was also involved in the design of the original BioShock, covering a variety of areas such as level design, environmental art, and programming.

Scott Sinclair is the art director of the originals BioShock and BioShock Infinite, while also working on BioShock 4.
