May 12 this year is the 16th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in mainland China, with the theme of "Everyone Stresses Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies -- Strive to Improve the Ability of Grassroots Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance". On the morning of May 14, the District Emergency Management Bureau, together with the District Meteorological Bureau, the District Forestry Bureau, the Fire and Rescue Detachment, Lutai Street and the Gas Company, jointly carried out the 2024 disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge publicity activities into the community and families in the Guangming New District Community of Lutai Street, so as to improve public safety awareness and emergency response capabilities.
At the event site, all units popularized the basic knowledge and skills of earthquake early warning information, meteorological disaster early warning information, disaster emergency response and escape to the residents of the community by placing disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge display boards, hanging publicity banners, distributing disaster prevention and mitigation brochures and publicity materials, and displaying disaster prevention and mitigation rescue equipment, and answered the disaster prevention and mitigation questions concerned by the masses face-to-face. At the same time, the District Emergency Management Bureau also visited the residents of the community, taught the residents about family earthquake prevention, emergency safety and fire safety, etc., and checked the gas safety, which achieved a good publicity effect and improved the safety awareness and self-rescue and mutual rescue ability of the residents.
