Back to the question of "eternal life" in the title. I don't know how you understand the concept of eternal life. But there are 2 situations of "immortality", one is that others think you are "immortal", and the other is that you yourself think you are "immortal".

And what we think of as existence is actually "memory". If your memory is always there, you will think that you have always existed, and you will think that you are immortal. It's like "freezing" a person and releasing him after 100 years, although his memory stays, but it still exists, so he is not dead.
Then we humans are actually the same, from childhood to adulthood, this life is just a memory. My memory is in my shell, I am still me, what if my memory is in yours? Would I think I wasn't me? No, I'll still think it's still me. Because you only have my memories on your shell, and if there is no second person's memory, then you are me. I don't know if you can understand that. What I want to convey is that whoever my "memory" is in is me.
On the other hand, how should we understand what others think of as "immortality"? We often tell our children about when we were young, which is actually a kind of memory preservation and transfer. When our parents are gone, we don't often say that they are not gone, and that they are in our hearts. That is, because we have their whole life in our memory, which is what others think is "immortality".
So the question is, can the memory be preserved? Or can it exist in another way? The answer is yes.

At this time, we need to consider the issues of birth, old age, sickness and death, and we don't need to consider whether you are a "carbon-based organism". You will be a whole new life. Maybe that's the real use of AI, and it's not about letting them have free consciousness and creating them, it's up to us to use them to create a new us. In this way, humanity will not go "extinct" one day, otherwise humanity will give up its future to AI.
Some people may say, I'm forty or fifty years old, and I don't have anything to do with it. What I want to say is that Musk's "catwoman robots" are all thinking about "having children", what else can't happen? Combined with Musk's plans in recent years, perhaps he has long been aware of this, so he will make a brain-computer interface and a "catwoman robot".
