Salt iodization prevents diseases, balances nutrition and health. May 15, 2024 is the 31st "Iodine Deficiency Disease Prevention and Control Day" in mainland China. In order to effectively improve the public's awareness of the dangers of iodine deficiency diseases, popularize scientific iodine supplementation knowledge, and promote the health of the whole people, the county health bureau and relevant departments organized a series of publicity activities in Longxiang Park, the county seat.
Through hanging banners, distributing brochures, posters, setting up consultation desks, free clinics and other forms, the event site publicized the methods of distinguishing true and false iodized salt to the masses, popularized the etiology, clinical manifestations, prevention and control measures of iodine deficiency diseases, the importance of eating iodized salt and how to choose qualified iodized salt, and actively called on the general public to understand the importance of scientific iodine supplementation.
"In daily life, when you buy salt, you can buy different types of salt according to different needs, such as low-sodium salt for patients with high blood pressure, and iodized salt for children and pregnant women." Xu Daosheng, head of the endemic disease prevention and control section of the county CDC, said.
During the event, more than 2,000 copies of 30 kinds of health education leaflets were distributed, more than 200 people were consulted, and more than 300 environmental protection bags were distributed.
Through the development of publicity activities, not only the public awareness of the dangers of iodine deficiency diseases has been improved, but also the awareness of scientific iodine supplementation has been enhanced.
