For GC fronters in a Grand Tour like the Giro d'Italia, it has become a tradition to have one or two mood pieces on the vehicle that are the same color as the leader's jersey.
Often, especially for riders who unexpectedly become the top riders, or who are only expected to keep their jersey for a day or two, these points are usually a change in the same color barbar strap and perhaps a saddle. If premeditated, these decorations would have been strategically hidden in the mechanic's truck.
The situation in Pogačar is slightly different. His only surprise was that he didn't put on the pink jersey until stage 3 (why did it take you so long!?). His bike sponsor, Colnago in northern Italy, had a pink V4RS frame ready for a long time.
Actually, this is not a new car in Pogačar. Look closely, and you'll see that these pink trims are stickers attached to the frame. Maybe Colnago didn't want to paint the bike ahead of time, so as not to ruin everyone's interest.
One thing we might be counting on though, is that if Pogačar keeps leading the way, he'll ride a full pink frame on the final stage.
