Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the list of grassroots public reading service promotion projects, and a total of 5 units in Shanghai were selected, including Xuhui District Library (Xuhui District Tushanwan Museum).
As an important cultural institution in the first batch of national public cultural service system demonstration areas, Xuhui District Library actively explores the construction of the general branch library system, attracts the participation of social forces, and builds a public library service network with comprehensive coverage, equal and convenient, efficient operation, rich resources and scientific management, so as to promote the continuous enrichment and improvement of the public cultural service system and improve the reading service level and service efficiency at the grassroots level.
In 2023, the new Xujiahui Academy will be open to public readers, with nearly 2 million visitors throughout the year, 2,215 national reading activities at all levels, and 14.94 million online activities, making it one of the most popular cultural landmarks in Shanghai.
Ensure universal equality and improve the public cultural service system
Xuhui District Library has strengthened the construction of the general branch library system, forming a network service system with the district map as the main library, 13 street and town libraries as the branch library, more than 300 comprehensive cultural activity rooms of the Home Committee as the grassroots service points, and 24 lighthouse study rooms as innovative service points, and constantly improving the "Xuhui District Public Library General Branch Library System Construction Work System", realizing the full coverage of "one machine and one box", and the literature resources are borrowed and returned.

Give full play to the role of Xuhui District Library as the main position of public culture, strengthen the linkage of reading services in the whole district while carrying out national reading promotion services for all kinds of people, and promote the full coverage of national reading. During the 2023 Shanghai Book Fair, with the theme of "The Attitude of Reading", innovative activities such as night tour mode and reading market will be created for the first time, and nearly 100 reading activities will be carried out in conjunction with the district branch libraries and lighthouse study rooms. The "Scholarly Shanghai, Reading the Future - World Book Day Shanghai National Reading Theme Activity" was held, giving full play to the "light source" effect of the cultural and tourism integration space of Xujiahui Academy, and launching a series of activities with three themes: "Reading Ten Thousand Books", "Traveling Ten Thousand Miles" and "Gathering Ten Thousand Lights". Launched a variety of new "YUE reading +" methods, such as "YUE reading + prose", "YUE reading + audio", "YUE reading + Fang Zhi" and "YUE reading + opera", activating urban memory, creating a rich bookish atmosphere, and leading the national reading trend.
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of the "People's Writer" Ba Jin, Xujiahui Academy has set up a Ba Jin study room in the academy in conjunction with Ba Jin's former residence, and specially planned the theme content of "Ba Jin's "Home" and Home", "Ba Jin's Circle of Friends" and "Your Birthday is the Festival of Chinese Literature", which has become a spiritual space for readers to read Ba Jin's works, enter Ba Jin's life, understand Ba Jin's spirit, and have a dialogue with Ba Jin.
Explore regional characteristics and provide high-quality public cultural services
Xujiahui Academy, the new library of Xuhui District Library, will be open to public readers from New Year's Day 2023, and has been newly improved in terms of functional space, service methods, and reading activities. Create a three-level menu-based distribution project "Huiyue Reading in Action", and distribute activities to relevant units such as branch libraries in towns and towns, grassroots service points, lighthouse study rooms, enterprise parks, schools and colleges, etc., so as to truly open up the "last mile" of public cultural services, so that citizens can enjoy high-quality reading services at their doorsteps.
In November 2023, the Lighthouse Study Room left Xuhui for the first time and landed in the Ancient City Library of Shiping County, Yunnan Province. In 2023, it will enter the campus for the first time - the reading lights will be lit up in the lighthouse study room of Nanyang Model Middle School. Rooted in the lighthouse study, the "Lighthouse Reader" is a characteristic reading brand in Xuhui District, and the "Reader" leads the majority of book lovers to read good books together, and jointly organizes a variety of reading activities, so as to continue to light up the light of reading in the whole district and enhance the brand effect.
This year, we will also complete the creation of 10 new child-friendly urban reading spaces in urban communities, enterprise buildings, commercial real estate and other areas, adapt measures to local conditions, give full play to regional characteristics and highlights, and launch special children's reading activity brands, so as to enhance the reading experience of young readers and cultivate good reading habits.
It is reported that Xuhui District Library will continue to build a people-centered modern library, continuously integrate high-quality social forces, further promote national reading, inject more vitality and innovation into grassroots public reading service promotion projects, make reading an indispensable part of people's lives, and nourish the hearts of readers!
