Ignite the light of hope with love
At the beginning of 2024, I visited the homes of low-income households in the village together with Chen Yongchuan and Li Chengbo, three members of the village-based work team, to prepare for targeted work.
He Moumou, a low-income household, lives in poverty, and the home environment is relatively dirty, with a 13-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter. When we visited He Moumou's house, we saw a little girl wearing ill-fitting clothes, because of the cold weather, frostbite on her hands, and everyone was deeply distressed. Walking into the house, there are a lot of clutter piled up in the room, which looks cluttered. After inquiry, it was learned that after He Moumou divorced, he couldn't get out of the emotional pain for a while, didn't care enough about the two children, and didn't take good care of the children, let alone tutor the children's homework.
The three of us first tutored the little girl to complete her homework, and then, in a conversation with He Moumou, we gained an in-depth understanding of his situation and encouraged him to cheer up and take care of his children. He Moumou was deeply ashamed, expressed his willingness to make changes, face life positively and optimistically, and hoped that the village-based team could help supervise.
We bought four-season shoes and clothes for the little girl, and when we visited again a month later, the child's living environment had also improved significantly. Although she is not good at words, she always has a smile on her face when she sees us, revealing her inner joy and gratitude. Subsequently, we contacted Langping Primary School to learn more about the little girl's learning at school. In the future, we will continue to pay attention to the little girl's learning and life situation to ensure that she can grow up healthy and happy.
The days in the village were busy and fulfilling, and although it was very hard, when I saw the satisfied smiles on the faces of the villagers and the days getting better and better, I felt that the effort was worth it. While sweating in this hot land, I also gained a lot of emotion.
