On May 15, local time, on May 14, BYD held a new car launch conference in Mexico, and its first pickup truck model - BYD SHARK was officially unveiled, and the overseas price was also announced at the same time, in the Mexican market, SHARK provided two models, priced at 899,980 Mexican pesos (about 386,500 yuan) and 969,800 Mexican pesos (about 416,500 yuan).
The new car is BYD's first pickup truck model, and it also has a lot of unique designs in appearance. For example, in the front part, this time the new car adopts a huge BYD logo design, and the enlarged car logo looks very atmospheric and recognizable. The two sides of the front of the car are equipped with longitudinal LED headlights and C-shaped daytime running lights, while the light clusters also adopt a through-type design, which has a very strong visual impact when lit.
The overall line of the vehicle is very stiff, which is more in line with the positioning of a pickup truck. In terms of details, such as the gantry frame, outboard pedals and other common equipment of pickup trucks are equipped. The A-pillar, C-pillar, wheel arch and other parts have also been blackened, which further enhances the sporty atmosphere of the vehicle.
The rear part of the car is still BYD's familiar through-type lamp group design, and the taillight groups on both sides are also arranged vertically, combined with the BYD logo that is also magnified, and the entire rear of the car visually echoes the front of the car, improving the aesthetic integrity. In terms of dimensions, the length, width and height of the new car are 5457/1971/1925mm, and the wheelbase is 3260mm.
Looking at the interior of the car, it is a very typical BYD design. The new car is equipped with a 10.25-inch floating LCD instrument and a very familiar 12.8-inch central control display, which has a good performance in terms of technology and practicality. In addition, such as the new shape of the multi-function steering wheel, as well as some mature decorations in the details, also provide a good texture to the interior of the car.
In terms of intelligent equipment, the new car will be equipped with a series of auxiliary driving functions including adaptive cruise control, intelligent navigation system, front/rear collision warning, rear cross-collision warning, lane change warning, and automatic emergency braking.
Finally, looking at the power part, the new car is built on the DMO platform, which is the same platform as the Formula Leopard Leopard 5. It is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T engine and an electric motor, with a combined maximum power of 430 horsepower, a maximum traction weight of 2,500 kg, a pure electric range of 100 km, a comprehensive range of 840 km under NEDC conditions, and three driving modes of sand, mud and snow. The new car is equipped with a BYD blade battery, which can be charged from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.
As the second largest exporter of Chinese automobiles after Russia, Mexico has now attracted many Chinese car companies to enter, including SAIC, JAC, Chery, Great Wall, GAC, Changan, Geely and many other car companies have already laid out the Mexican market, perhaps this is why BYD chose to release this pickup truck model in Mexico. With the opening of the China-Mexico direct route, it is believed that more Chinese companies will come to Mexico, and with the help of Mexico, they will radiate the entire American market, laying a new stage for Chinese brands to enter the larger global market.
