May 18, 2024 marks the 48th International Museum Day, and this year's theme is "Museums Committed to Education and Research", highlighting the critical role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience.

Teacher Hong Hui, the fifth-generation inheritor of the provincial intangible cultural heritage of the century-old Hongjia tea, the national senior tea appraiser and the national senior tea artist, was specially invited to give a lecture on the basic knowledge of tea brewing, taking everyone to learn the tea ceremony, appreciate the tea art, taste the tea rhyme, and feel the charm of the century-old intangible cultural heritage on the spot.

Taijiang District Museum and the School of Petrochemical Engineering of Fuzhou University jointly carried out the "Museum Day is Interesting, Xueba's Former Residence Learns Chemistry" chemical science popularization research activity in the former residence of Hou Debang, including the popularization of chemical knowledge and interesting chemical experiments, so as to stimulate children's interest in science through the power of role models and let children start a wonderful chemical journey in the "second classroom" of the museum.

Research activities for small docents
Under the leadership of the research teacher, by understanding the integrity culture of Fujian merchants, exploring the mystery of the mortise and tenon structure, challenging the Luban lock, and cutting window flowers, the little docents can further feel the profound historical and cultural heritage of Taijiang among the ancient bricks and tiles of the Gutian Guild Hall, and become small communicators of Taijiang culture.

Lin Congsheng Minjiang Water Tan Customs Photography Exhibition
Historically, there was an ancient ethnic group in Fuzhou called the Tan people who lived on the water of the Minjiang River for generations. They live on boats, live on water, moor everywhere, and are bullied. The harsh living conditions have created a strong adaptability to life and an indomitable spirit of the Tan people, and derived a very distinctive Tan people culture.
In order to welcome the upcoming "5.18 International Museum Day" and better preserve the culture of the Tan people, our museum specially holds the "The Last Tan Min" Lin Congsheng Minjiang Water Tan People Customs Photography Exhibition, so as to inspire future generations to cherish the present life, more actively participate in economic construction and various social undertakings, and realize the "Chinese dream" of national rejuvenation.
