Hello everyone, I'm Xiao Wei! Every day, we will share new things with you! Welcome everyone to communicate with each other and make progress together!
With the rapid development of China's social economy, the first generation of migrant workers, those who have made great efforts for urban construction and economic development, are gradually entering old age. However, the pension problems they face are becoming increasingly prominent, which has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life. In order to gain an in-depth understanding of the pension plight of this group, we conducted an in-depth interview and investigation, and combined with specific cases, to explore solutions.
1. The current situation of the first generation of migrant workers
The first generation of migrant workers refers to the workers who began to work in the countryside to cities in the early 80s of the last century. Most of them have not received higher education, but with their hard-working hands and firm faith, they have made great contributions to the construction and development of the city. However, as they grow older and their physical strength declines, they gradually lose their ability to work and face the dilemma of providing for the elderly.
In the course of the investigation, we found that the following problems are common in the pension status of the first generation of migrant workers:
Low pension level: Because most migrant workers do not pay enough pension insurance premiums when they are young, their pension level after retirement is generally low, and it is difficult to meet their basic living needs.
Inadequate medical protection: As they get older, their physical condition gradually deteriorates and they need more medical protection. However, due to the uneven distribution of medical resources and the high cost of medical care, many migrant workers have difficulty obtaining timely and effective medical services.
Imperfect social security system: Although the state has established a social security system, many migrant workers are not included in it due to historical reasons and institutional shortcomings. This makes them lack due protection when facing the problem of pension.
2. In-depth interviews and investigations
In order to have a deeper understanding of the pension issues of the first generation of migrant workers, we interviewed several representative migrant workers and compiled their cases.
Case 1: Uncle Zhang, 65 years old this year, is a veteran worker who has worked on the construction site for more than 30 years. He told us that when he was younger, he sent almost all of his income back to his hometown in order to provide for his children's education and build a house for his family. Although the country now has a pension system, because he did not pay enough insurance premiums when he was young, he can only receive a pension of a few hundred yuan a month, which is not enough at all.
Case 2: Aunt Li, 62 years old this year, has worked in a garment factory for many years. She told us that she was in good health when she was younger, but as she got older, various diseases began to come to her door. Due to the high cost of medical care, she had to cut back on food and clothing, and even sold her family's valuables to pay for medical expenses. She worries that if she loses her ability to work in the future, she will not be able to afford the high cost of medical treatment.
Case 3: Master Wang, 60 years old this year, is a veteran who has been in the construction industry for many years. He told us that although he had accumulated a certain amount of wealth, he was helpless in his hometown because his children were working in other places. He feared that if he fell ill or lost his ability to work in the future, he would have no one to take care of him.
3. Solution
In view of the pension problem of the first generation of migrant workers, we propose the following solutions:
Raising pension levels: The government should increase investment in pension insurance for migrant workers, increase pension levels, and ensure that they can meet their basic living needs. At the same time, enterprises are encouraged to pay more pension insurance premiums for migrant workers to improve their level of protection.
Strengthen medical security: The government should increase investment in rural medical resources and improve the diagnosis and treatment level and service quality of grassroots medical institutions. At the same time, establish and improve the medical security system for migrant workers, reduce the burden of medical expenses, and ensure that they can enjoy timely and effective medical services.
Improve the social security system: The government should strengthen the construction of the social security system for migrant workers and include more migrant workers in the social security system. At the same time, strengthen the supervision of enterprises to ensure that enterprises pay social insurance premiums for migrant workers.
Strengthen community building: Strengthen community building and provide more care and assistance to migrant workers. Through organizing volunteers and carrying out cultural activities, community cohesion is enhanced, so that migrant workers can feel the warmth and care of the society.
Encourage children to care for their parents: Strengthen family education and social advocacy to encourage children to care for and care for their elderly parents. Through family care and material support, migrant workers can enjoy the warmth and happiness of their families in their later years.
In short, solving the problem of pension for the first generation of migrant workers is a long-term and arduous task. It requires the joint efforts of the government, enterprises, society and individuals to provide them with better protection and care from multiple aspects. Only in this way can these workers, who have made great efforts for urban construction and economic development, enjoy their old age in peace.
