The retired general of the Taiwan military on the island frankly said that the mainland has already launched the model of outlying the islands, and the reunification of the two sides of the strait is unstoppable.
In less than a week, DPP Chairman Lai Qingde will officially take office and succeed Tsai Ing-wen as the new leader of the Taiwan region. At present, the outside world is paying close attention to Lai Qingde's inauguration ceremony on 20 May, because his speech at the inauguration ceremony will affect the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the development of cross-strait relations to a certain extent, and some people even predict that the PLA will launch a major operation on 20 May as a "unique meeting gift" for Lai Qingde to come to power. However, before Lai Qingde could deliver his inaugural speech, the DPP began a new round of provocative actions. A few days ago, Yu Dayu, who succeeded Hsiao Mei-qin, a "Taiwan independence diehard," as the new so-called "representative to the United States" of the Taiwan region, declared in an interview that if dialogue and exchanges between the two sides of the strait are needed, then the premise is that the two sides maintain "mutual equality and respect," the mainland must abandon the idea of "recovering Taiwan," and the Taiwan region has its own "international space." In addition, Yu Dayu also deliberately emphasized that the proposal of "one country, two systems" is very ridiculous.
Obviously, the DPP's purpose in making such erroneous remarks through Yu Dayu is to "build momentum" for Lai Qingde's inauguration. At present, the Kuomintang has confirmed that it will not attend Lai Qingde's inauguration, and even though Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an has received an invitation letter, he still politely declined the DPP's invitation to attend on the grounds of municipal travel arrangements. The People's Party, on the other hand, is still unclear about the itinerary. However, considering that in the recent legislature game, the People's Party and the Kuomintang jointly countered a wave of the DPP, and there was a fierce verbal dispute between the two sides, so it is highly likely that Ke Wenzhe, chairman of the People's Party, will not choose to face Lai Qingde at this point in time. What really worries Lai Qingde is not how many people on the island will participate, but how many "foreign guests" from outside the island will be able to come. The Biden administration is now busy with the 2024 presidential election, so naturally it has no heart to deal with Lai Qingde, let alone send someone to attend the inauguration. The Japanese side will not send government officials to participate, and the Fumio Kishida government will at most send some cross-party figures to show their faces, and they can simply deal with it.
As for the "countries with diplomatic relations" that have always pinned high hopes on Lai Qingde and Wu Zhaoxie, there seem to be some unexpected situations, and it is reported that the "diplomatic relations" between two countries and the Taiwan region have become unstable, so it is still a question whether or not all of them can attend the meeting. Against this background, the DPP authorities must use some means to "increase the momentum" of Lai Qingde and make the eyes of the international community turn to the Taiwan Strait, so forcibly negating the one-China principle and vainly trying to create the false impression of "one China, one Taiwan" has become the primary choice of the DPP authorities. Naturally, the mainland will not get used to the DPP's insistence on this erroneous "two-state theory" viewpoint, and has already launched corresponding countermeasures to make the DPP and the "Taiwan independence" elements on the island understand that the mainland's promotion of cross-strait reunification is not as simple as just talking. First of all, the Ministry of Commerce will study the suspension or partial suspension of tariff preferences for Taiwan products under the ECFA in accordance with relevant regulations, which means that the policy of favoring Taiwan that has lasted for more than 10 years is slowly coming to an end, and the DPP will stop thinking about eating and smashing the pot at that time.
In the second step, the mainland coast guard and other departments have recently carried out regular law enforcement inspections in the waters of Kinmen, and the area has covered the so-called "prohibited and restricted waters". Although Taiwan's "Coast Guard" dispatched patrol vessels to follow and monitor and at the same time issued warnings, the mainland coast guard law enforcement ship ignored the clamor of Taiwan's "Coast Guard" and continued to carry out the inspection task as planned.
