Tokyo Polytechnic University, abbreviated as "East Technicity", is a private university of engineering and arts with its headquarters in Nakano-ku, Tokyo, Japan. It is the oldest surviving photography school in Asia and one of the most authoritative photography schools in Japan.
The predecessor of Tokyo Polytechnic University was the Konishi Photographic Professional School founded in 1923 by Sugiura Rokuemon, the 7th president of Konishi Rokusho Koeiko (now Konica Minolta), and was renamed Tokyo Photographic University in 1966 to open university education, and in 1977 it was renamed Tokyo Polytechnic University. Tokyo Polytechnic University is one of the few universities in Japan that offers "photography" education. He has cultivated famous photographers such as Hideko Hosoe and Kiharu Kobayashi. Tokyo Polytechnic University has a Faculty of Arts (Photography, Video, Design, Media Expression, Animation, Manga, and Games) and a Faculty of Engineering. The Graduate School has the Graduate School of Arts and the Graduate School of Engineering.
The founding spirit and the philosophy of the university
The predecessor of Tokyo Polytechnic University was the Konishi College of Photography, which was founded in 1923. It is aimed at spreading "photograph" of the most advanced media at the time widely in society and continues inheriting the spirit of the school in form of "education of the most advanced art and technology" now.

Eligibility for international student selection
1. Non-Japanese nationals (who have not obtained a permanent residence permit in Japan) and who have graduated from a foreign or Japanese higher education institution will be selected through examinations and interviews for expressive subjects.
2. Japanese language ability: "JLPT" N2 pass or "EJU" (reading, listening, listening and reading) 220 points or above.
