This year's Cheung Chau Jiao Festival will be held from the 12th to the 16th of this month, with a variety of activities including Chinese opera performances, lion dances, unicorn dances, kung fu performances, etc. The Bun Carnival 2024 "Bun Grabbing" Competition Finals will be held in the early hours of tomorrow (16th) at the Pak Tai Temple Playground Football Pitch in Cheung Chau, with 4 areas for the public to watch the game, with a capacity of about 1,650 people.

A reporter from Hong Kong Commercial Daily arrived at Pier 5 in Central on the way to Cheung Chau at about 8 o'clock this morning, and nearly 100 people lined up to get on the boat.

Guo Yujun, a second-generation heir of Guo Jinji, a time-honored bakery that has stood in Cheung Chau for 40 years, said that this year is the second year of Taiping Jiao after the new crown pneumonia epidemic, and the sales are expected to drop by 10% compared with the same period last year.

Guo Yuxi also said that this year's Ping An package is priced at 11 yuan each, and there has been no price increase for 4 to 5 years, due to the rise in operating costs such as materials and labor in recent years, the price adjustment is a last resort, and it is hoped that 50,000 Ping An bags will eventually be sold.

Hemmi, a 6-year-old child dressed as an EPD employee, looks like she wears it. Her mother, Mrs. Yau, said that the family was a former resident of Cheung Chau, so they got up at 7 a.m. and went to the scene a little early to put on makeup, hoping to have more time to prepare. Mrs. Yau said that her daughter dressed up as an ambulance worker last year, and this is the second time that her daughter has participated in the parade, hoping to express the demands and dissatisfaction of Hong Kong people over the garbage levy. Mrs. Yau prepared antipyretic patches, Pocari, micro fans, and vests for her daughter, hoping to cool down and cool off.

The mother of Zirui, a 4-year-old child dressed as a charter wife, said that they are also indigenous residents of Cheung Chau and went to Tai Po in April this year to have a Jiao Festival and participate in similar activities. Ms Lee added that due to the height and weight restrictions for the children participating in the Parade, this year may be her daughter's last year to participate in the Parade. Another 5-year-old Leung who dressed as an inspector said that he wanted to become a police officer when he grew up, because being a police officer could bring criminals to justice, do his duty, and help citizens in need.

Beckii and Tayler, female tourists from England, came to Cheung Chau together, Beckii said that the last time I came to Cheung Chau to hike the Little Great Wall, this second time I came to watch the parade, even if it took time to queue up for a long time, I think it is worth buying a safe bag, and I hope that after eating a safe bag. Beckii revealed that she is a vegetarian herself, and she went to McDonald's in the morning to buy a bag with vegetarian ingredients, and she felt delicious. When asked if they would save tonight for the bun grabbing game, Beckii and Tayler said no, as they need to go to work tomorrow and will leave until the afternoon.

The Colour Parade starts at 2pm this afternoon and starts at Pak Tai Street Playground in Cheung Chau and ends at Pak Tai Street Playground. As for the "Bun Grabbing" finals to be held in the early hours of tomorrow (16th), the Pak Tai Temple Recreation Ground Football Pitch in Cheung Chau has 4 areas for the public to watch the game, with a capacity of about 1,650 people. From 10pm today, admission tickets will be distributed along Bingchang Road at Beishe Yili next to Cheung Chau Fire Station, and each person can receive one ticket on a first-come, first-served basis. Members of the public with admission tickets can enter at 10:30 p.m. and enter Zones 1 to 4 from 10:30 p.m. onwards to watch the bun grabbing competition according to the instructions of the Police and the conference staff.

Notices will be set up at Pier 5 in Central, and notice boards and information counters will be set up at the entrances of Cheung Chau Ferry Pier and Pak Tai Temple Playground in Cheung Chau to let the public know about the relevant arrangements. (Reporter Ye Jiaheng)
