In the hybrid rape seed production base of the third squadron of Xiangbei Farm, Huangji Town, Xiangzhou District, I saw that the rape harvester was moving forward smoothly. As the cutter rotated at high speed, the green and yellow rape fell to the ground.

It is understood that the harvesting of seed rape adopts the segmented harvesting method, that is, the rape is divided into two harvesting operations. The first time the rapeseed is cut and dried for about three to four days, and when the rapeseed is fully ripe, it is picked up and threshed by machinery.

Since the nineties of the last century, our city has been the most important hybrid rapeseed production base in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the rapeseed industry has been developing for more than 30 years. In recent years, the area of hybrid rapeseed production in our city has grown rapidly, from 25,000 mu sown in the autumn of 2021 to 42,000 mu today, accounting for 20% of the national rapeseed production area.

Although this year's rape has been affected by frost damage in the early stage, the climate is suitable for the full flowering period, the pod setting condition is good in the later stage, the total number of horns is more, and the seed production yield is expected to increase instead of decreasing, and it is expected that the single production capacity of hybrid rapeseed production this year will reach about 200 catties per mu, which is about 10% to 20% higher than that of normal years.
