Most of the elderly residents in the Geriatric Rehabilitation and Nursing Home of Chenguan Central Health Center are moderately and severely disabled, with poor limb function and communication difficulties, especially the elderly in wheelchairs and bedridden...... According to the needs and physical condition of the elderly, the volunteers serve the elderly enthusiastically and patiently.
Volunteers chatted with the elderly while giving them haircuts, shaving and cutting their nails, making them happy, and the atmosphere was warm and peaceful.
The youth volunteer service team of Honghe Special Education School is composed of young teachers and some hearing-impaired and visually impaired students, who combine the basic skills learned by students in school with social practice through volunteer service activities, and help the elderly to provide free haircuts and massage services as much as they can, so as to contribute their own modest efforts and spread love to the society.
The person in charge of the geriatric rehabilitation nursing home of Chenguan Central Health Center said that the "Love Charity Scissors" is a very meaningful public welfare activity, which can not only meet the haircut needs of the elderly in the nursing home, but also make the elderly feel the warmth and care of the society.
It is understood that since December 2023, Honghe Prefecture Special Education School has regularly organized youth volunteer service teams to provide haircuts and other services for the elderly in the geriatric rehabilitation and nursing home of Chenguan Central Health Center according to the actual situation, which not only promotes the traditional virtues of respecting and loving the elderly, but also promotes the active integration of hearing-impaired and visually impaired students into society, and also enhances communication and exchanges with the elderly.
