According to a report by the U.S. World News Network on May 12, the commercial flight of the domestic large aircraft C919 is about to reach its anniversary, and the first intercontinental passenger aircraft independently developed by China, the C929, has also made new progress.
Jie Yuwen, deputy director of the Shanghai Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of the Civil Aviation of China and head of the C919 aircraft type qualification review team, said on the 9th that COMAC is carrying out relevant work before the airworthiness application, and is expected to submit an application for type certificate to the Civil Aviation Administration at the end of the year. The Shanghai Validation Center is also involved in the preliminary research, which can lay the foundation for better establishing standards and discovering technical problems.
According to Hong Kong's "Wen Wei Po", Tong Yu, deputy general manager of COMAC customer service company, said that the C929 is steadily advancing the preliminary design, and it is believed that "the prototype of the C929 will be seen in the near future". Tong Yu also estimated that the test flight of the C929 may be "soon", and has begun to prepare for the application for airworthiness certification, and plans to submit the application to the Civil Aviation Administration by the end of this year.
Earlier, COMAC announced that the C929 project joint research kick-off conference was held in COMAC on April 15. The experts at the meeting were divided into six special groups, including overall aerodynamics, airframe structure, composite structure, avionics electrical, mechanical system, and propulsion system, and carried out a week-long discussion.
