The Way of Nature in Poetry (6) | Continue the dream of a thousand years and enjoy the harmony of the sea of people

View the sea

The Eastern Han Dynasty Cao Cao is east of the Jieshi to watch the sea. The water is surging, and the mountains and islands are sturging. The trees are overgrown and the grass is abundant. The autumn wind is bleak and the waves are surging. The journey of the sun and the moon, if out of it; The stars are splendid, if out of it. Fortunately, even ya, the song is a song.

"The journey of the sun and the moon, if out of it; The stars are splendid, if out of it. Reading Cao Cao's "Watching the Sea" again, I was once again impressed by his extreme outline of the charm of the ocean. Using the sun, moon and stars to set off the vastness of the ocean, this mind and spirit are beyond the reach of ordinary people.

Cao Cao in the twelfth year of Jian'an (207 AD), the northern expedition to Wuhuan, returned victorious, passing by the Bohai Bay, seeing such a color of mountains and seas, he couldn't help but touch the scene, and wrote this work known as the marine poetry of the Wei, Jin and Six Dynasties. From this poem, we can feel the dream of harmony between man and sea that has arisen spontaneously when the ancients, including Cao Cao, faced the sea for thousands of years.

Throughout the history of human exploitation and utilization of the ocean, from "those who look at the sea are difficult to water" to "the benefits of fishing and salt, and the convenience of boats", from the "Maritime Silk Road" to the great geographical discoveries, human beings have always had two forces stirring in the ocean: one is yearning and the other is awe. In the accompaniment of thousands of years, mankind has completed the historical transformation from "conquering the sea" to "harmony between man and the sea". "Fortunately, even ah, the song is a song." Cao Cao's cheerfulness, optimism and exuberance show the joy of human beings living in harmony with the ocean. This feeling of "facing the sea, spring flowers blooming" can't help but emerge in the hearts of people watching the sea.

The way of harmony between people and the sea is a precious wealth nurtured by Chinese civilization for more than 5,000 years. The ancients said: "Coexist with heaven and earth, coexist with all things." This concept of "harmony between man and nature" and "Taoism and nature" has formed the traditional ocean view of the Chinese nation that respects, reveres and protects the ocean. Today, we propose to care about the ocean, understand the ocean, manage the ocean, strengthen the construction of marine ecological civilization, and build a maritime power. These are highly consistent with the spirit of the ancients of "the unity of man and sea". At present, human beings do not care about and understand the ocean enough, and only on the basis of full understanding and sufficient attention can we achieve sustainable development and utilization of the ocean, and continue to move towards the beautiful vision of "harmony between man and the sea". It can be seen that the way of harmony between people and the sea has been inherited from ancient times to the present. We have been friends with the ancients and gods for a long time.

"The past is more than a thousand years, Wei Wu whipped the whip, and there is a legacy in the east of Jieshi. The bleak autumn wind is now again, and the world has changed. Compared with the ocean that Cao Cao faced back then, we are no longer "looking at the ocean and sighing" today. The pace of human exploitation and utilization of the ocean has been accelerating, covering the deep seas of the world's oceans, and the supporting role of the ocean in the development of human society has been continuously enhanced, including deep-sea fishing, international shipping, offshore oil and gas exploitation, offshore wind power development, and marine energy utilization. But at the same time, achieving harmony between people and the sea is also facing new problems and challenges. Marine disasters such as typhoons, tsunamis, storm surges, sea level rise, ocean acidification, and red tides threaten the lives and property of coastal countries and residents.

Now, thousands of years have passed, and the ocean, which has dimmed the light and shadow of swords, still uses its endless sound of waves to witness the sonorous steps of human beings walking towards the sea and guarding the harmony of the sea of people. The vision of "harmony between people and the sea" in Cao Cao's poems is getting closer and closer to us.
