May 11 of this year marks the 50th anniversary of the 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Daeguan County. On the afternoon of the 11th, the relevant departments directly under the county and the townships and towns participated in the popular science lecture on "Popularizing Disaster Prevention Knowledge and Improving Risk Avoidance Ability" held in Daguan County in Mujiao Town Middle School.
On the morning of May 11, 19 units in Daguan County jointly carried out a concentrated publicity activity with the theme of "Everyone Stresses Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies - Strive to Improve Grassroots Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance Capabilities" in the County Cultural Square.
On April 30, Daguan County's 2024 natural disaster emergency drill was held in Gaoqiao Town, which simulated the heavy rain and a 5.3-magnitude earthquake in Taihua Village, Gaoqiao Town, Daguan County.
On May 8, Geely Town carried out a comprehensive disaster prevention and mitigation emergency drill of "geological disasters, earthquakes, flood control, and fire fighting".
Disasters are ruthless, but the correct way to escape and avoid danger is our powerful weapon. Combined with the 16th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day, Daguan County has sent all kinds of safety science knowledge to communities, institutions, schools and rural areas through media releases such as the micro Daguan official account and Shanshui Daguan APP, campus knowledge lectures, square activities science popularization, and emergency drills to guide cadres and the masses to keep in mind the hazards of disasters and teach the public how to respond to sudden natural disasters scientifically, which has greatly improved the awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation and the ability of cadres and people to avoid risks.
