Although they were forced to a 3-3 draw by Villa, Liverpool's third goal was very memorable. It was the start of the second half when Elliott took a free-kick from the left and Kwansa, who followed up at the back post, struck the Villa goalkeeper with a header. It was the first time since 17 November 2001 that two Under-21s had scored a Premier League goal.
The last time they combined to score for the Reds was Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen. It was the 13th round of the 2001-02 Premier League season, and Liverpool visited Ewood Park to face Blackburn. With 30 minutes played, Steven Gerrard sent in a cross and Owen headed home his seventh league goal of the season to give the Reds the lead. However, Liverpool were unable to take all three points in that game, as homegrown arrow Matt Jensen levelled Blackburn Rovers to a 1-1 draw.
After 8,214 days, the Reds once again teamed up with two youngsters to score in the Premier League, and although the possibility of winning the title this season has been lost, the Reds have gradually taken the lead in the likes of Elliott, Kuansa, Jones and Bradley, and Liverpool's future is still promising.
