In August 1927, Mao Zedong led the First Division of the First Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army into the southern Gannan base area. Yang Meisheng was fortunate to join this heroic unit and served as a squad leader of a regiment. Since then, he has been closely linked to the fate of the Communists, and has followed Chairman Mao on a journey full of hardships and blood.
In 1928, Yang Meisheng showed courage in the fierce battle and was soon developed into a member of the Communist Party of China. Armed with a pistol, he personally commanded a squad of fighters to divert the enemy's fire coverage.
In 1931, Zhou Enlai rushed from Shanghai to support, but encountered a blockade by the enemy on the way. Yang Meisheng made a decision on the spot, flexibly used the tactics of attacking the east and the west, and used two companies to divert the enemy's main force and open up a safe passage for Zhou Enlai.
Zhou Enlai praised Yang Meisheng's command ability, and later recalled: "Yang Meisheng is very brainy and very good at fighting. When I crossed the blockade on that occasion, he commanded his troops to strike at the east and west, and to divert the enemy, otherwise it would have been dangerous to cross the blockade. ＂
In 1935, the Jinggangshan base area was heavily bombed by three enemy planes. Under the command of Yang Meisheng, the machine gun company fired a salvo of four machine guns and successfully shot down an enemy plane, making the Red Army seem to have re-enacted the classic scene of the "anti-Japanese drama".
Former relatives were displaced
After more than 20 years of vicissitudes, Yang Meisheng has personally witnessed the magnificent journey of the Communist Party of China sailing from a small red boat to finally winning the liberation of the whole country. When the Nanchang Uprising broke out in 1927, Jiangxi soon became the hardest hit area by the Kuomintang warlords. The ancient and tranquil countryside of Qianping Township was swept up in a thrilling catastrophe. The division of warlords within the party, the constant confrontation between armed forces, and the successive years of drought and fierce years have plunged the lives of the people into unprecedented misery.
Yang Meisheng's family was affected. Soon after, his elderly father was killed in the violence, leaving his mother and younger siblings homeless and displaced. The journey was difficult, unclothed, hungry and cold. Eventually, they had no choice but to move to the big city to earn a living.
More than 20 years have passed, and Yang Meisheng is now a prestigious deputy commander, but her mother has become a ragged beggar old woman in a strange city. In the era of the Great Revolution, families were ruined and life and death were impermanent, and such an encounter was too bloody and cruel.
Early one morning in 1949, when Yang Meisheng led the PLA inspection team to patrol the streets, an old and colorful figure broke into view. Faced with his mother's uncertainty, Yang Meisheng ignited a surging heat from the depths of his heart. As a party cadre, it was his duty to fight to save the people of Lebanon from suffering.
