However, it was this principled character that eventually led to his downfall.

In 1965, Luo Ruiqing was dismissed because he adhered to principles in his work and could not tolerate unhealthy trends in the party. The incident caused a huge shock inside and outside the party, and many people were stunned and shocked by it.

Luo Ruiqing's downfall is closely related to his personal principles. He insisted on seeking truth from facts in his work and opposed any form of exaggeration and unhealthy tendencies. This principled attitude, in the particular political circumstances of the time, was seen as a challenge to certain senior leaders.

This, combined with his prestige and influence in the military, made him a threat in the eyes of some. In the political struggle on the eve of the Cultural Revolution, Luo Ruiqing eventually became the target of purges.

They all have firm principles and noble character, and they have all been treated unjustly because of their adherence to principles. Peng Dehuai was wrongly criticized for insisting on the truth at the Lushan Conference, and Luo Ruiqing was removed from his post for adhering to principles in his work.

What happened to both of them reflects the complexity and brutality of the political struggle at the time.

Luo Ruiqing's belief and practice

Luo Ruiqing, an outstanding general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, his life is a vivid portrayal of the infinite loyalty to the party and the people. Chairman Mao once gave him two sentences: "If the water is clear, there will be no fish, and if people are observed, there will be no disciples", these two sentences are not only an accurate description of Luo Ruiqing's character, but also the belief and practice criteria he adhered to throughout his life.

Luo Ruiqing insisted on seeking truth from facts, firm conviction, and faithfully performed his duties as a Communist Party member with a high sense of responsibility and mission, whether in the revolutionary war years or in the period of peaceful construction.

Luo Ruiqing's seeking truth from facts and firm belief have been fully reflected in his work. It was Luo Ruiqing's spirit of adhering to principles and seeking truth from facts that ultimately led to his misfortune. During the Cultural Revolution, Luo Ruiqing was removed from his post and imprisoned because he adhered to principles and could not tolerate unhealthy trends.

Incarceration and release

In 1973, Luo Ruiqing's imprisonment was finally released, and his family could visit him. It was an important turning point in his life. In the ward of 301 Hospital, Luo Ruiqing spent time with his daughter, which was undoubtedly a huge spiritual comfort for him.

Even after experiencing the hardships of the Cultural Revolution, Luo Ruiqing still maintained his loyalty to the party and the people and his love for the revolutionary cause.

His spirit is undoubtedly worthy of learning and inheritance for future generations.

Luo Ruiqing, the general who left a deep mark on the history of the Chinese revolution, suffered a major setback in his life during the Cultural Revolution.

During those difficult years, he formed a special "neighbor" relationship with Peng Dehuai. According to the literature, Peng Dehuai was taken into custody at the Shifang Yuan in the western suburbs of Beijing, and Luo Ruiqing was taken into custody in the same place soon after.

The two old revolutionaries, former comrades-in-arms, became wards next to each other due to the sudden change in the political struggle. Luo Ruiqing expressed dissatisfaction with his comparison with Peng Dehuai.

"The above shouldn't have locked me up with Peng Dehuai, he still did a few things against Chairman Mao, what should I compare with him?"

Although Luo Ruiqing suffered a severe blow during the Cultural Revolution, his attitude towards Chairman Mao has always maintained reverence.

When Luo Ruiqing encountered difficulties, he was still eager to explain his situation to Chairman Mao, expressing his deep trust in Chairman Mao.

When Luo Ruiqing was in trouble, Chairman Mao sent a message through Premier Zhou to affirm that Luo Ruiqing had never opposed him.
