BMW Brilliance Supply Chain is about to rebuild the next-generation iX5 (code G78) battery case production line project, with a total investment of RMB 237 million and a construction period of 32 months. The project will use the existing first and second workshops (the original iX3 production line) for reconstruction, with an annual production capacity of 73,794 units.

According to the EIA, the next-generation iX5 will be built on a next-generation platform, with a new electronic and electrical architecture, a sixth-generation eDrive electric drive system and a new generation of lithium-ion batteries. According to the previous plan, BMW Brilliance will start production of the new generation of models from 2026.

The next-generation X Concept

The next-generation iX5 is expected to have a similar exterior and interior design to the new-generation X Concept, with more space inside the car thanks to the shorter front and rear overhangs of the new-generation platform. The sixth-generation power battery equipped with the new car has increased the energy density by more than 20%, the cruising range by 30%, the charging technology voltage platform has been increased to 800V, and the speed has been increased by 30%, which can achieve a range of 300km in 10 minutes. In the future, the new car will compete with the Huawei M9 pure electric version and the Li L9.
