Song Yanhui, a melon farmer in Qilizhuang Village, Xuefeng Street, said happily: We have planted 14 greenhouse watermelons, including yellow crown melons and rock sugar seeds, with thin skin and fine meat, very good taste, and very sweet to eat. Every year, many people come to us to pick and eat watermelons.
Qilizhuang Village deeply implements the business model of "party building + industry + cooperatives + farmers", with the village collective economic cooperatives as the link, with the support of high-quality melon, fruit and vegetable planting technology, attracting village cadres, party members, and representatives of the masses to take shares, and through planting hanging vine watermelons, croissant melons, red jade strawberries, morels and other high-value, high-nutrition melons, fruits and vegetables, the annual output value can reach more than 100 yuan, increase the income of the village collective economy by 300,000 yuan, and drive the employment of more than 50 surrounding households.
In order to improve the level of planting management, control costs, improve the quality of watermelon output, and increase the collective income of the village, Peng Changhong, the 62-year-old village party secretary, led the village cadres to learn planting management techniques. In the sweltering melon shed at nearly 40 degrees, Peng Changhong picked up the watermelon with his hand and gently knocked it, listening carefully to judge the ripeness. This year, the watermelon has grown gratifying in their hard work, and the yield and taste are higher than last year's.
