On the morning of May 10, Mrs. Carrie Lam, the fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, visited Hohai University and interacted with students.

Tang Hongwu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hohai University, and Yang Guishan, President of Hohai University, welcomed the arrival of Carrie Lam, and introduced the development history of Hohai University and the exchange and cooperation with Hong Kong, hoping to continue to focus on the major national and regional strategic needs, give full play to the advantages of Hohai water conservancy disciplines, and contribute to the development of regional integration in the Yangtze River Delta and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Carrie Lam affirmed Hohai University's long-term exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong, and she hoped that through this visit, Hohai University and universities in Hong Kong would further cooperate and promote exchanges between the two sides in education, science and technology, and culture.

Subsequently, Mrs Lam delivered a keynote speech entitled "Upholding and Improving the Practice of 'One Country, Two Systems' in Hong Kong" and interacted with the students. In her speech, Carrie Lam vividly expounded on the practice of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong based on her own experience and insights during her tenure as the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, so that the students could more deeply understand that "one country, two systems" is the best institutional arrangement for Hong Kong to maintain long-term prosperity and stability, and must be adhered to for a long time. At the same time, Carrie Lam also shared her firm confidence in Hong Kong's future development, and how to give full play to Hong Kong's advantages of "relying on the motherland and facing the world" to better integrate into the overall development of the country, and gave a vivid ideological and political lesson for the majority of students. After the speech, Carrie Lam had a warm interaction with the students.
