author:Crossing the sea and white clouds, Huang Junbi

Expressing homesickness has been an enduring theme in mainland poetry, songs, and paintings since ancient times. Many excellent works were born under the homesickness of wanderers.

Leaving home and returning home, homesickness and love are the most simple feelings of Chinese. "Grandmaster of Painting" Huang Junbi was born in Xiqiao, Foshan, Guangdong, but after living in Taiwan in middle age, he was never able to return to his hometown. Looking at his homeland from afar, he often misses the life scenes of his youth, and misses what he saw when he traveled through the famous places of the motherland in his prime, so the scenery of Lingnan, the smoke and rain in the south of the Yangtze River and the famous rivers of Bashu have all converged under his pen and ink.

In 1956, "Wuxia Cloud Peak", 1963 "Drinking Horses on the Great Wall", 1967 "Emei Wolong Nunnery", 1968 "Jialing Riverside", "Seeking Secluded Staff", "Kuimen", "Thousands of Miles of Embroidery", "Moonlit Night Boating", etc., are all works that express his strong homesickness.

After living in Taiwan, he could no longer visit his hometown, but his homesickness was uneasy, so Huang Junbi recreated the beauty of his homeland with a brush based on his previous sketches, travelogues, and memories of his appearance.

In his later years, Huang Junbi's homesickness became more and more profound. In 1974, when Huang Junbi was 77 years old, he spent a month creating the masterpiece "Luofu Scroll", a famous mountain in his hometown of Guangdong.

Huang Junbi has visited Luofu twice. He said that Luofu's victory, he traveled about eight or nine times out of ten, and could take notes and sketch, but unfortunately in the relocation, many of them were lost. In the month of closed doors, he relied on the memories in his mind and the only remaining notes to complete this nearly 10-meter Luofu Mountain scenic spot. When he was done, he also wrote the following poems:

Early in Feiyun to visit Chisong, when he was young, he put hibiscus.

Jin Dan did not change his face, and he was ashamed to see Magu Jade Girl Peak.

The old man traveled on the peak of the youth, looking back at the fifty autumns of the dust.

The cave is deep in the clouds, and the waterfall under the Zhuzhu Bridge is contending.

After the poem, "the troubled times are moving, and the famous mountains and scenic spots haunt the dreams of guests." At this age, there are seven out of seventy years. I dare not have the thought of inheritance, and the nostalgic work is indispensable. Dumen thanked the poor in the morning and evening of January, and began to finish this picture. Later viewers should know the feeling of late overseas residence and the vicissitudes of the homeland. The sentence "overseas residence is late, the vicissitudes of his hometown" makes the best summary of his special feelings for his hometown.

After Huang Junbi turned 80 years old, works that embody homesickness continue to emerge. A "Xiqiao Mountain Residence" reveals his deep attachment to his hometown. "In the depths of thousands of mountains and ancient trees, thousands of trees are shaded and green moss. The family lives at the foot of Xiqiao Mountain, and I know that flowing water comes from the sky. It is his nostalgia and nostalgia for his homeland.
