At that time, the two of them had drunk three rounds, and they were dizzy when they got into the car, and some details were not particularly clear, but what was certain was that the cash was in the trunk of the car.
After learning about the situation, police officer Zheng Peng immediately launched an investigation. Through the access to road surveillance, it was found that the substitute driver of the day sent Mr. Deng to his home, and then took out his folding electric car from the trunk, after which he leaned down again, as if turning something in the trunk, and finally closed the door and left. This small action aroused Zheng Peng's vigilance, and through repeated checking, it was judged that the substitute driver was most likely a suspicious person who stole cash.
Subsequently, the police transferred external surveillance and found that at about 12:51 on April 27, that is, 8 hours after the incident, the wife of the substitute driver Zhu went to a bank to deposit money. After obtaining key clues, Zheng Peng quickly followed up the investigation, and Zhu's wife told the police that the money deposited in the bank was given to her by her husband Zhu, totaling 14,500 yuan.
In the face of ironclad evidence, Zhu finally admitted that he stole 20,000 yuan in cash from the trunk of the car owner, Mr. Deng, due to greed, and in addition to the 14,500 yuan given to his wife, the remaining 5,500 yuan was used for loan repayment and other consumption.
At present, the criminal suspect Zhu has been taken criminal coercive measures by the Lin'an police for theft, and the case is still being further handled. All the stolen cash was recovered and returned to the victim, Mr. Tang.
