From the Kangxi Dynasty of the Qing Dynasty to the Qianlong Dynasty, the Qing Emperor combined the natural landscape and historical and cultural relics, and successively built the Xiangshan Jingyi Garden, Changchun Garden, Yuquan Mountain Jingmingyuan, Yuanmingyuan and Wanshou Mountain Qingyi Garden (Summer Palace) in the western suburbs of Beijing, forming a royal garden group with the landscape borrowing from each other and complementing each other, with "three mountains and five gardens" as the center.

Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang, Xianfeng, until the Empress Dowager Cixi of the late Qing Dynasty, spend most of the year here for governance and recreation. In the "Three Mountains and Five Gardens", the Qing Emperor and members of the royal family combined the buildings, landscapes, flowers and trees in the garden, and carried out various entertainment activities with different seasons and scenery throughout the year. These rich entertainment activities, some of which are spectacular, festive and lively, highlight the royal wealth and enjoy with the people; Some are elegant and exquisite, with the charm of ancient literati.
