May 12 this year is the 16th National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in mainland China, with the theme of "Everyone Stresses Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies - Strive to Improve Grassroots Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance Capabilities". In order to do a good job in the activities related to this year's National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day, Yangxian County has built a publicity pattern of "overall planning of the Disaster Reduction Office, coordination of various departments, linkage between the upper and lower levels, and response of the whole society", planned and held publicity and consultation activities, organized and carried out comprehensive emergency drills for disaster prevention and reduction, and created a good atmosphere for the whole society to participate in disaster prevention and reduction with rich and diverse activities that the masses like to see.
At 8 a.m. on May 11, the Yangxian County Emergency Management Bureau, together with the public security, transportation, health, fire and other departments, carried out on-site publicity activities for the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Day in Kaiming Square. At the event site, the staff publicized flood prevention and drought relief, earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, disaster relief, wind and lightning protection, geological disasters, forest fire prevention and other safety knowledge, safety protection and self-help knowledge to the masses face-to-face by setting up consultation desks, placing publicity display boards, hanging publicity banners, and distributing publicity materials and safety knowledge manuals, so as to educate and guide the masses to improve safety awareness and self-protection ability, create a good atmosphere of paying attention to safety, attaching importance to safety, and participating in safety, so as to ensure a safe and orderly social environment. In this event, more than 100 publicity boards were placed, more than 50 banners were hung, more than 2,000 promotional bags, promotional aprons and other items were distributed on the spot, more than 20,000 brochures were distributed, and more than 1,000 people were consulted by the masses.
At 10:30 a.m., the 2024 comprehensive emergency drill for disaster prevention and mitigation was held in Chengxi Primary School in Yangxian County, which mainly covered three subjects: indoor avoidance, outdoor escape and evacuation, and fire-fighting equipment operation drill. The drill was well prepared, practical, scientific in risk avoidance, and strong in support, which tested the feasibility of emergency plans and measures for disaster prevention and mitigation in the form of actual combat, effectively responded to emergencies, comprehensively tested the actual combat ability of the emergency rescue team, and provided valuable practical experience for rapid response to disasters and dangers in the future.
The drill was hosted by the Yangxian County People's Government, the County Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Committee Office, the County Emergency Management Bureau, the County Education and Sports Bureau, and the county West Primary School, and the Yangxian County People's Government Deputy County Mayor Huang Haining attended the event and delivered a speech, and more than 2,000 people from 18 towns (streets) in the county, 15 relevant departments, and schools in charge of the leaders, and teachers and students of Chengxi Primary School participated in the drill.
