Will Lai Qingde, who has always pretended to be a so-called "pragmatic 'Taiwan independence' worker," engage in "Taiwan independence"? It may be incredulous for everyone at first, but if this is the case, then it is a good thing, indicating that the moment of reunification has really come. But is that the truth? It's not that simple.
First of all, it is the United States that asks Lai Qingde, who took over as the leader of the Taiwan region in 520, not to engage in "Taiwan independence" in a big way. Obviously, it is impossible, and it is nothing more than that, in light of the performance of Tsai Ing-wen, the leader of the DPP authorities in the past eight years, if there is a slight change, the PLA may launch a military operation in the Taiwan Strait. If the newly appointed Lai Qingde is also so nonsense, then the mainland may start to take over Taiwan at any time, which the United States does not want to see, so it asks Lai Qingde to temporarily shelve the "Taiwan independence" issue to avoid angering the mainland.
Moreover, Tsai Ing-wen's so-called "four insistences" are essentially "Taiwan independence" ideas, but the degree has not reached the point of "resisting reunification by force," but the essence of her opposition to "reunification" and seeking "Taiwan independence" remains unchanged.
Therefore, Lai Qingde did not really give up "Taiwan independence," but simply because he knew that the mainland was not easy to provoke, and he was afraid in his heart, so he sought "peace" in disguise. After all, not long ago, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) sent 11 military planes into the Taiwan Strait, and judging from the specific tracks, the PLA military planes were already very close to Tainan and Kaohsiung, and Tainan, Kaohsiung, and other areas are the basic base of the DPP. Now that 11 PLA fighters are approaching the venue of Lai Qingde's inaugural dinner shortly thereafter, the meaning is clear enough: If the DPP authorities dare to vigorously engage in "Taiwan independence" and provoke the mainland, the consequences will be very serious.
However, in the long run, even if Lai Qingde is afraid at the moment, it does not mean that Lai Qingde is unlikely to have a serious negative impact on the situation in the Taiwan Strait, and the reason is very simple: Lai Qingde's term of office is as long as four years, and during these four years, he has had a lot of time to gradually adjust his own propositions, and he has moved closer and closer to "resisting reunification by force." Just like Tsai Ing-wen has done in the past eight years, gradually hollowing out the original proposition and vainly trying to realize his ambitions by means of "slicing sausages." This has always been the usual method of the DPP authorities, but it absolutely cannot deceive the mainland.
It is conceivable that no matter what shady tricks Lai Ching-te and the US side have done in private, whether or not they have publicly mentioned the "Taiwan independence" proposition, the mainland will absolutely not relax its vigilance, will not give "Taiwan independence" any opportunity to take advantage of the situation, and the moment of reunification will no longer be far away.
