Going back further, it took about 11 years from the official launch of BMW Brilliance's first domestically produced model in September 2003 to the 1,000,000th vehicle rolling off the assembly line. It is here that the all-new BMW 5 Series goes through extremely rigorous processes and rolls off the production line. BMW Brilliance's Dadong Plant, the birthplace of the all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase Edition, has adopted the industry's first AI intelligent quality inspection system to monitor the production quality of parts in the press shop. The "Never Fatigue" AI intelligent quality inspection system independently developed by BMW can not only track and inspect every part on the production line, but also analyze the data very quickly, only 0.01 seconds to complete the analysis of a single image data in the stamping process, and the detection accuracy can gradually approach 100%, so that the tiny gaps that cannot be detected by the naked eye can not be hidden, ensuring that the parts enter the next process in the best condition.
The innovative all-electric BMW i5 is painted in a new matte grey paint, which has extremely demanding requirements for painting and quality inspection due to the specificity of its material. The Shenyang production base uses automated optical inspection equipment (AOI) robots to take more than 100,000 photos of each painted body in the paint shop, and identifies small process defects such as impurities, fibers, and scratches with a detection accuracy of 0.01 mm, so that the defects have nowhere to hide.
All of BMW's production sites around the world have a uniform standard for the color value of base paints, and the standards for matte paint are more stringent. The quality control experimental team of the Shenyang production base uses professional digital scanning equipment to conduct experimental tests on the consistency, uniformity, ductility and gloss of the paint, and strictly implements BMW's global quality standards.
It is reported that the innovative pure electric BMW i5 off the assembly line, which adopts a new matte gray paint, will provide personalized paint options in May.
