Chongming Station is a newly built station of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hefei high-speed railway, located near Wannan Village, Chengqiao Town, Chongming District, 1.5 kilometers away from the main urban area of Chongming. With an area of about 10,000 square meters, Chongming Station takes the "Wings of the Yangtze River" as the design concept and extracts the wings ready to fly as an abstract form, implying that with the arrival of the high-speed railway, Chongming is about to spread its wings and take off, forge ahead and fly into the future. Among them, the wings are slowly spread along the sides, showing a welcome gesture to visitors from all over the world.

It is worth mentioning that the design of Chongming Station meets the requirements of vehicle turnback, creating conditions for the future intercity line to and from the city. Chongming Station will also simultaneously build transportation supporting projects such as buses, taxis, and social vehicle parking lots, so as to realize the interconnection and seamless transfer of high-speed rail and other transportation modes, so as to facilitate passenger travel. A distribution plaza with appropriate scale and harmonious environment will also be built around the station building to form a comprehensive transportation hub project of Chongming Station with complete functions and green ecology.

The construction of the Chongming section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Rong high-speed railway will create a number of railway construction history. Among them, the Chongtai Yangtze River Tunnel has a total length of 14.25 kilometers, of which the shield section is 13.25 kilometers long, which is the high-speed railway cross-river tunnel with the highest standard, the longest tunneling distance and the largest scale under construction in mainland China. The main navigation hole bridge of the Chongqi Railway Yangtze River Bridge is a 400-meter-span double-tower double-cable-faced steel truss combined beam cable-stayed bridge, which is the world's largest span ballastless track cable-stayed bridge for road and railway.
The Shanghai-Chongqing-Rong high-speed railway is the backbone line of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" riverside corridors planned by the national medium and long-term railway network, and the backbone intercity channel of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. After the completion of the high-speed railway, it will complete the important puzzle between the coastal passage and the riverside passage of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network, and Chongming will also be integrated into the regional railway network, ushering in major development opportunities.
