First meet the family "German cockroach" that has been with you for many years, it has two stripes on the back of its head, and its fecundity is amazing, and one egg sheath can bring you tens of thousands of cockroaches a year.

Cockroach bait can kill most cockroaches, but not the egg sheath. This is a big reason for recurrence, and another reason is that the female cockroach carrying the egg sheath has a reduced appetite and is not eating your glue bait, and it may be a new arrival.

Also, if you use the same active ingredient medicine repeatedly, the cockroaches will develop resistance, you will find that they eat your glue bait, or still alive, and some cockroaches will even develop glucose aversion, so as not to touch your sugar base glue bait.

We need to recycle different ingredients of glue bait to avoid resistance. When choosing a cockroach drug, you should pay attention to its active ingredients: imidacloprid, dinotefuran (BASF), indoxcarb (radar, black cyclone), sulfluramidin (banned in mainland China in 2021), and cis-cypermethrin used by BASF (banned by the European Union, the stock must be cleared by 2022), and chlorpyrifos (banned in China for vegetable pest control). Manufacturers don't tell you that an ingredient is resistant, and they want you to repeat it.

So if you look at the videos that evaluate cockroach medicine, they may be competing for the same ingredient, and this competition is at most more attractive to cockroaches than the glue bait of these products, as for the efficacy and even the ingredients, they are the same.

The first step is to use chemical methods to quickly kill cockroaches

We still use the cockroach bait that most people have been using to kill cockroaches quickly, which is actually what most people are doing or doing, if you happen to have done this step recently, then please skip to the second step.

The first step is to put cockroach bait, most of the glue bait on the market is effective, such as the one mentioned above, here again it is important to emphasize that if you have used active ingredient A before, please change to the product of active ingredient B this time to avoid resistance. For example, from imidacloprid to dinotefuran, we are not saying to change the brand, but to change the ingredients, pay attention to the active ingredients, there are logos.

To effectively kill cockroaches, the first step is how we find the source of cockroaches at home, and how to find the nest of cockroaches at home.

German cockroaches are commonly found in the walls of kitchens and bathrooms and behind cabinets and appliances. Use a flashlight to inspect the refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher, plumbing under the sink, and any cracks and crevices.

Look for cockroach droppings. The little pepper-like ones that remain in countertops or cupboards are their droppings, and that's where they hide, their habitat (they don't build nests).

The purpose of completing a thorough cleaning of the house is to keep them with nothing else to eat and increase the probability of eating glue bait. Once that's done, you're ready to start using the chemistry. That is, using any of the previously unused glue baits mentioned above. Under the cupboard, behind the cupboard, under the sink and around the appliance, dot the glue bait every 30 cm to 45 cm, the size of a soybean.

After the completion of the first stage, most of the cockroaches are usually killed, but the cockroaches are still not cut off, the eggs in the egg sheath will still hatch after they die, and some female cockroaches carrying egg sheaths reduce their appetite, the cockroach egg sheath hatches after 28 days, and becomes nymphs, the nymphs need to go through 6 to 7 times of peeling and growing, and once they shed their skin, they will grow one instar, and the last shedding will grow wings, and the nymph stage takes 40-125 days. Adults can reproduce their offspring one week after that.

In order to prevent new cockroaches from hatching, we need to use insect growth regulators, which are relatively rare in our country, and this step is very important in foreign IPM (integrated pest control) programs.

Insect growth regulators referred to as IGR (Insect growth regulators) is a class of specific insecticides, which do not directly kill cockroaches when used, nor do they need to be eaten by cockroaches, but hinder or interfere with the normal development of cockroaches during the development period of cockroaches, so that cockroach nymphs or eggs stop developing, reduce their ability to live, die, and then make the population extinct, he does not pose a threat to adults, but will cause female cockroach adults to be sterilized, because IGR does not directly kill adult cockroaches, due to its working principle, The effect is relatively slow, it generally takes about 1 month, so it is difficult to promote, especially in the evaluation video, it will be a mess, but IGR is very important in the comprehensive treatment program, and it has been the main force in the prevention and control of cockroaches abroad.

Keep the IGR in cabinets and drawers, next to computers, that you know have cockroach activity and keep out of reach of children and pets.

Pinch the pouch firmly and place it in the place where cockroaches are infested the most

This will kill the larvae that do not hatch in the first step, IGR is generally valid for 90 days, so it needs to be replaced regularly, you have to be patient, just change it 2 to 3 times, and there is currently no resistance of cockroaches to IGR.

At present, there is only one IGR product sold in the mainland, and its main ingredient is S-ethyl endiol, which is the same as the active ingredient of the foreign product in the picture above, and is safe for mammals. There are discounts on new items on the shelves.

Well, this step will effectively kill the remaining cockroaches in the first stage and block the development of cockroaches and cockroach eggs, and finally kill them.

The third step is to destroy the habitat of cockroaches and prevent exotic cockroaches and fish that have slipped through the net

After the first two steps are completed, it will take about 1 week or so to move on to the third step, and the first two steps will still slip through the net, and you may bring back cockroaches from the outside at any time, or the cockroaches from the neighbor's house will come to your house and settle down to rebuild the population, so we need to prevent recurrence through long-term preventive measures. We use washed food-grade diatomaceous earth to complete the third step, which is a physical method to kill cockroaches, diatomaceous earth is made up of ancient diatom skeletons, 90% of which are made up of silica, these diatom skeletons look like under the microscope with a lot of sharp edges and spikes. There is a layer of wax on the exoskeleton of cockroaches, once the diatomaceous earth is stained with cockroaches, the diatoms will pierce this membrane, and absorb the wax and water on the exoskeleton, causing its water loss and dehydration and death, this process usually takes 24 to 72 hours, its effect is relatively slow, but it is absolutely safe and can be used permanently.

Diatomaceous earth kills cockroaches

The processing technology of diatomaceous earth is divided into two kinds: calcination and washing, we must choose washed food-grade freshwater diatomaceous earth here, because the amorphous silica of calcined diatomaceous earth will be transformed into crystalline silica during the calcination process, resulting in the physical properties being changed and the insecticidal effect cannot be achieved. The diameter of washed food-grade freshwater diatomaceous earth particles is very small, around 14 microns, and the extremely small particles are more likely to attach to cockroaches.

Why is diatomaceous earth safe? Diatomaceous earth has applications in medicine, feed, facial masks, toothpaste, food, etc., for example, adding a little diatomaceous earth to pet feed can help kill worms in the stomach of cats and dogs. For families with babies and pregnant women, if you are not at ease about using chemical methods to kill cockroaches, you can also use diatomaceous earth directly.

Application: Spray a powder bottle on the spot where cockroaches like to hide (I call this action a thunder). Just spray a thin layer on the inside of the cabinet, the pipe under the sink, the gap in the wall, the gap in the socket, and even the back of the picture frame, under the furniture, and the inside of the sofa also needs to be sprayed.

If there is a ceiling, open the ceiling, run into diatomaceous earth in all corners, and spray a layer of diatomaceous earth under the bed.

If your home is a villa, you can spray diatomaceous earth all around the villa, and also spray diatomaceous earth in places that may be connected to neighbors, such as putting a carpet at the door and spraying diatomaceous earth on the carpet to prevent cockroaches from visiting the door.

Note that the diatomaceous earth is not too thick, just a thin layer. When you are sure that you haven't seen a cockroach for more than half a year, you can spread a little more diatomaceous earth in the hiding place that the cockroach particularly likes, so that the new cockroach will die before it can rebuild the population after stepping on the thunder. If you're not sure, you can cover all of these places again with diatomaceous earth every 6 months. Although diatomaceous earth is non-toxic, it is necessary to avoid inhalation, and it is best to wear a mask when spraying.

These diatomaceous earth do not need to be cleaned up, leaving these mines permanently under the cupboards, behind the cabinets, and under the sink where the cockroaches like to hide.

The fourth step is to prevent cockroaches and rebuild the population

Many people are asking: the house is very clean, where do the cockroaches come from? This problem is very good, to prevent cockroaches, you must first figure out how cockroaches breed and what causes cockroaches at home.

The most likely reasons are these:

1. The most common is to slip in from the crack in the door, and now the door generally has a door sweep (I don't know if it's called this name, please tell me in the comment area if you know), when it is closed, the following door sweep will automatically open and close the gap under the door to prevent cockroaches from slipping in, At the same time, do drug retention at the door or sprinkle diatomaceous earth (mine) on the mat at the door, so that he will step on the thunder as soon as he comes in, and die before he has time to reproduce.
2. Express parcels to your home to go through storage, transportation, delivery, each link may have cockroaches or eggs brought to your home. It is best to remove the outer packaging outside and then take it home, and for large express delivery, you should pay more attention to see if there are insect eggs when unpacking.
3. Supermarkets, wet markets, such places are more difficult to eradicate than your home, and they are likely to get into your shopping bag to rebuild your population.
4. Traveling, you go to a hotel accommodation, hotel cockroaches may also crawl into your suitcase and hitchhike into your home.
5. Moving, some friends found that there were too many cockroaches at home, thinking of moving to a different place, unless you don't want the previous furniture and items, otherwise it is generally difficult to avoid him moving with you, and this is how my new home was recruited.
