Overlooking the Jingjiang River embankment, the Yangtze River water is flowing into the downstream channel through the gate of the new Yanjiatai Gate, and after nearly a week of water testing, the Yanjiatai Gate is generally running well.

The original Laoyanjiatai gate was built in 1966, is a two-hole arch culvert structure, each hole is 3 meters wide, 3.5 meters high, the elevation of the gate floor is 30.5 meters (Wusong frozen), the design flow is 37.6m/s, and the irrigation farmland is 402,000 mu. At the end of 2020, the Hubei Provincial Department of Water Resources conducted a safety appraisal of the Yanjiatai Gate as a Class IV gate, and recommended that it be demolished and rebuilt.
In the entrance section of the newly built Yanjiatai Gate Project, bulldozers are repairing the bank slope, and workers are building the superstructure of the lock chamber. The main building level of the newly built Yanjiatai Gate is Class I, which is a 3-hole culvert gate with a single hole net size of 4.0x4.0 meters, a floor elevation of 28.40 meters, and a design flow of 41.6m/s. The total length of the box culvert is 76 meters, of which the sluice chamber section is 16 meters long and the embankment section is 60 meters long.
Yanjiatai gate project officially started on November 15 last year, the planned construction period is one year, up to now, the main projects completed are the removal of the old culvert gate, the construction of the culvert gate foundation cast-in-place pile and the culvert gate cushion pouring, the gate chamber pouring and the gate installation project.
Lv Zhiqiang, the person in charge of the site of Hubei Huaxia Water Conservancy and Hydropower Co., Ltd.: We plan to repair the gate chamber in May, install the hoist in June, and carry out the automatic opening and closing of the gate, and carry out the construction and restoration of informatization after the flood season, which is planned to be completed in November this year.
After the reconstruction, the new communication network and information systems such as information security, video surveillance system, gate control system, application system and system integration will be built. After completion, the Yanjiatai Gate will better ensure flood control safety and improve irrigation efficiency.
