According to Thai media sources, on May 7, Ms. Ganika, deputy spokesperson of the Thai Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the cabinet meeting held on the same day adopted a framework principle for the detailed budget of emergency or necessary reserves to organize the 72nd birthday celebration ceremony of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, the tenth king of Thailand, with an amount of 700 million baht.
The proposal for this budget allocation has been asked for government departments and relevant agencies to specify the details of the mission arrangements and the cost of the expenditure, and to submit them to the Review Committee for approval. When the government department and relevant agencies receive the results of the deliberations, they shall submit them to the Deputy Prime Minister or the Minister of Supervision for review and approval, and further apply to the Budget Office for funding in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
As for the above-mentioned budget of 700 million baht, the project budget approved by the review committee is 304.82 million baht, and the project budget of 395.18 million baht has not yet been approved. The unapproved project budget is mainly used to support the operations of committees, subcommittees and departments to which tasks are assigned, mainly including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Office of the Prime Minister, the Public Relations Department, the National Police General Headquarters, the Bangkok City Hall and other relevant agencies.
In addition, Thai Prime Minister Sai Ta also personally issued a document saying that on the occasion of the 72nd birthday of His Majesty the King on July 28, 2024, the Secretary-General's Office of the Prime Minister's Office, as the producer and issuer, is ready to sell the King's Birthday commemorative badge to the public, which is beautifully made and priced at 300 baht, and invites the public to go to the designated place to order.
