It is the 26th World Asthma Day
This year's theme is:
"Empowering Asthma Education"
Designed to facilitate an asthma home management program
Healthy Hubei reminds everyone
Temperatures rise in late spring and early summer
Plants grow vigorously
Allergens such as pollen, fungi, etc
The amount in the air increases
are all potential asthma triggers
Everyone should pay attention to protection
What is Asthma?
The essence of asthma is inflammation, which is a chronic airway inflammation involving a variety of non-infectious cells, resulting in increased airway responsiveness, airflow restriction, and even changes in airway structure. Causes recurrent episodes of wheezing, chest tightness, and coughing.
In recent years, the incidence of asthma in children has been increasing year by year.
Be vigilant when these symptoms appear
As a parent, asthma suspicion should be high if your child is found to have any of the following signs or symptoms:
● Wheezing episodes occur more frequently than once a month
● Activity-induced coughing or wheezing
● Cough that is predominantly nocturnal and not associated with infection
● Wheezing symptoms persist beyond the age of 3 years
● Symptoms are relieved after anti-asthma treatment, but recur after discontinuation of the drug
Symptoms vary from patient to patient and may have all or some of the symptoms, which are incurring and triggered by certain factors in the environment, some have only a chronic cough, some have chest tightness, shortness of breath and wheezing after exercise, and some have persistent wheezing after exposure to allergens or smoke.
An acute asthma attack can be life-threatening
If asthma is poorly controlled for a long time, it has recurrent attacks
It can also affect your child's growth and development
and may continue into adulthood
It gradually progresses to diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
What triggers or worsens asthma symptoms?
Existing research suggests that asthma is influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Genetic factors are unavoidable, but patients can stay away from external environmental factors that trigger asthma, thereby controlling or reducing the occurrence of asthma.
Experts warn that environmental factors that trigger or worsen asthma symptoms include the following seven points:
1. Allergens: such as pollen, dust mites, pet hair and dander, mold, etc.
2. Air pollution: such as smog, chemical gases, industrial emissions, etc.
3. Climate change: such as drastic changes in temperature and humidity.
4. Infection: such as cold, flu and other viral or bacterial respiratory tract infections.
5. Physical factors: such as cold air, strenuous exercise, etc.
6. Psychological factors: such as stress, mood swings, etc.
7. Certain foods or drugs: such as some fruits and nuts that are prone to allergic reactions, certain antibiotics or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.
How to prevent and control spring asthma attacks?
● Wash your hands frequently to prevent infection
● Avoid contact with allergens such as dust mites, fungi, animal dander, etc
● Exercise properly
● Prophylactic medication
● Regular medication to achieve good asthma control
● Children with dust mite allergy can develop immune tolerance through desensitization treatment, which is currently the only treatment for causes
