Educational Film Summary

Educational Film Collection March 12, 2010

In the past two years, I have watched many, many movies, especially those related to education, which are often referred to as educational themes.

At first, on the "Education Online Forum", I watched some reviews of education-themed films, saw "Father's Curriculum - Interpreting Russian Film < Return to the >" (Gan Guoxiang), and later bought "15 Movies That Teachers Must See" (written by Deng Zhiwei), and also read the book "The Brain with Proper Structure" written by Teacher Wei Zhiyuan when attending the Haimen Annual Conference of New Education, and several film review articles were also serialized in the "Teacher's Expo" (original version) in 2009.

In the first half of 2009, I proposed to carry out the development of the school-based elective course of "Image Reading" for teacher training students, which has also been initially carried out by a young language teacher (this activity has many unsatisfactory points, but I do not have the time and energy to pay proper attention to it, and a "Teaching and Research Topic "Calling Business" activity cannot be implemented, in addition to time and energy There are other factors). When I was studying in Wuhan, I also read "Educational Theme Films and Teacher Training Students Video Reading" (Jiang Kui, published in "DVD Film Review", No. 09, 2009), and on the campus of my alma mater, I also made full use of the convenience to collect many film criticism articles. Before the winter vacation, I learned that Cangnan County planned a seminar on "Winter Vacation Network Salon Activity - Pedagogy in Images", the theme of which was: Interpreting the Educational Wisdom and Humanity in Images (I think such activities are particularly meaningful).

Advantages of Video Reading Teaching——

For teacher training students, in addition to the necessary educational theory courses, the teaching of video reading supplemented by educational films will greatly improve the teaching effect. Compared with textbook theoretical indoctrination, video reading teaching is unique: first, the intuitiveness and vividness of the teaching content; secondly, the penetration of the teaching effect; the third is the epochality of the teaching medium; in addition, the image reading also has the aesthetics of the teaching context.

The significance of educational theme video reading for teacher training students——

Normal colleges and universities should not only attach importance to the cultivation of students' professional knowledge and teaching skills, but also vigorously strengthen students' humanistic quality education, especially artistic aesthetic education, and carrying out video reading is undoubtedly a good way to implement aesthetic education.

Focusing on educational films and carrying out targeted video reading is not only the need to improve the cultivation of humanities and arts, but also the need for the professional quality of future teachers, which has specific career guidance significance. (1) Cultivate teachers' professional feelings and cultivate professional hobbies; (2) cultivate teachers' professional art and open professional wisdom; (3) establish teachers' professional cognition and stimulate professional missions; reading excellent educational films will help teacher training students to obtain emotional calls, wisdom enlightenment, and more importantly, rational construction, and then develop a positive and healthy professional mentality, and make full professional preparations for successfully entering the ranks of teachers.

In the video reading activities, teacher training students can learn the history of China's educational development, we once had such an era (private teachers, substitute teachers), can have a perceptual understanding of comparative education (how foreign education is), can learn some vivid and vivid education and psychology knowledge, which is conducive to teacher training students in the horizontal and vertical aspects of broadening their horizons.

Zhou Guoping said: Intellectual education is to develop curiosity and the ability to think rationally, not to instill knowledge; moral education is to encourage lofty spiritual pursuits, not to instill norms; aesthetic education is to cultivate rich souls, not to instill skills.

<b>One of the key words - image reading</b>: The meaning of "<b>image</b> reading" here is the opposite of text reading, similar to the meaning contained in the following paragraph:

Nowadays, film and television adaptations of literary works have become common, which to a certain extent reflects the transformation of modern people's reading psychology from words to images. But this acceptance shift sometimes produces a kind of ambiguous reading, especially the image dissolves the heaviness of the ideas and the so-called "philosophical rationality" in the original work. From the novel "Unbearable Lightness in Life" to the film "Love in Prague", the successive appearance of two different texts also seems to imply that the torture of modernism has consciously or unconsciously turned into a fragment of postmodernism. In other words, the film subverts the original structure of the novel in terms of text and form, and also subverts the habitual idea of reading and interpreting the work. Perhaps this is only a unique feature of "Love in Prague", <b>but it has created a new style of reading at present, that is, the process from words to images,</b> which is precisely a way and a new way of reading and interpreting from tradition or modernism to the context of postmodernism. However, through the comparative reading of the novel and the film, it is not difficult to find that although the film is faithful to the original novel in terms of plot and adapts the novel to the film, the film, with its gorgeous visual impact, tortuous image narrative, and seductive sexual display, while leaving aside the philosophical discussion and elaboration in the novel, has completed other things that the film can reveal.

The meaning of "image reading" here is not a fast and efficient reading method mentioned on the Internet.

<b>The second key word - educational film</b>: The so-called educational film is a film specially made for education from the perspective of education ("Educational Film", Gu Jianchen, Zhonghua Bookstore, 26 years of the Republic of China). Educational films, of course, include what is commonly referred to as science and education films. However, the "educational film" here should essentially refer only to "educational film".

The development of the school-based elective course on image reading for teacher training students I am talking about is different from film and television appreciation, mainly not from the perspective of literature and film and television technology, film art, film line appreciation, communication studies, montage, etc., is not our focus, this course is not an introduction to film stars or well-known directors.

As a result, I have more and more relevant information on hand. The titles of some educational films are now published here, and those who are interested can follow the names.

TV series: Yin Xuemei and Famous School (22 episodes). (The content of "Yin Xuemei" is relatively single, and "Famous Schools" is still a bit chewy)

Many of the above videos are from the Education Online Forum. Due to the different views, it is a matter of opinion, and it is generally the position that the more the former should be seen (not strictly so. There are a few that I don't think have a strong relationship with education).

Most movies are easy to download, a few online can not find download resources (it is estimated that it is difficult to buy a disc), and some movies need to download subtitles separately.

Wang Shuya's film review book "I Have Peace Like a River" (Jiangxi People's Publishing House, published in August 2009) has the following articles:

"Put on Your Crystal Bead Chain" - movie "Thirteen Paulownia Trees";

"It's the Best of Times, It's the Worst Of Times" – the movie "Slumdog Millionaire";

"Love Is the Law" - the movie "12 Angry Men";

"I have a date with Liu Bang" - the movie "The New Ten Commandments".

<b>Welcome to Boyou Supplement! </b>

May 9 Supplement:

1. In mid-March 2010, "Fairview Garden", a "film specially made for children" made by Xiangyu Education Group, won the "Special Spirit Award" at the 15th International Family Film Festival (IFFF) held in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. It should be good, it is estimated that it cannot be found on the Internet.

Second, "There is a Tree in Brooklyn" was made into a movie, and it was not found on the Internet.

Third, "Let Love Pass Out", very good.

June 4 added: "Saga's Super Grandma", "Cloud School".

November 25 supplement: The Teacher's Monthly magazine 2010 07 and 08 jointly mentioned five other books - "Star Sea", "Happiness is Not Far Away", "Sunflower Seeds", "Walking to School", and "Juno". Unfortunately, I only found Juno on the Internet.

In addition, I thought the comedy "Three Fools Bollywood" could belong to this list! People will be inspired by the ease of watching.
