【My Crouching Tiger Bay】Wang Yao: Years are beautiful ● Battlefield memories

Thirty years of bomb command, a lifetime of spring, summer, autumn and winter. In the blink of an eye, it has been thirty-one years since Brother Fu Pingshan left us.

Brother Fu Pingshan and I joined the army at the end of 1976, but he joined the army by beating gongs and drums, and I was a soldier sneaking through the back door; I served in the reconnaissance company of the 113th Infantry Division, and he did his duty in the reconnaissance company of the 114th Infantry Division.

The year 1977 was the first year of smashing the "Gang of Four," and in that year society was still immersed in the joy of "the smell of fine wine and the sound of singing," the troops changed from the guiding ideology of "striving to fight early, fight a major war, and fight a nuclear war" and marched forward to the road of training troops in the "big contest" in '64. In the autumn of that year, in order to raise the training level of the reconnaissance detachment of the whole army, the reconnaissance department set up the first batch of reconnaissance squad leaders of the 38 th Army in Sicang Village, Wanxian (Shunping County), to conduct intensive training.

Fu Pingshan is tall and strong, honest and shy, with slightly dark skin and a beard. At that time, there was a guy named Zhang Maodong in our class, who was also five big and three thick, with a beard, which matched Fu Pingshan's appearance, and he was also from Tianjin's hometown. The two of them have been fond of wrestling since childhood, and when they arrived in the army, they became scouts again, which may be the nature of teenagers, or they may have the same hobby, in short, these two fellow villagers have come together as friends in wrestling. On that day, we removed corn oranges in the landlord's yard and swept a field, and the two of us took off our military uniforms and showed off our skills. I had just turned seventeen years old that year, and I was single and thin, and I was short in stature, so how could I dare to fight against Fu Pingshan, who was a tiger-backed bear, so I could only wave my flag and cheer on the sidelines.

In August 1986, the group army formed the 12th Reconnaissance Brigade to participate in the defensive reconnaissance operation against Vietnam. We held each other's hands tightly, greeted each other warmly, and told us about the difference of several years, when he was a deputy battalion staff officer in the brigade and I was the deputy company commander of the second company of special investigation. We all bravely accepted the call of the motherland, and with a heart to serve the country, we set foot on the battlefield of blood and fire in southern Xinjiang without hesitation. But who knew that a farewell from Wenshan to the war zone has become an eternity in our life and emotions!

Fu Pingshan's sacrifice made me sad, leaving a memory of youth that can not be forgotten, when the light passed on the temples and white frost, when I calmed down and re-recalled that period of youth, I suddenly woke up, his sacrifice reflected not only a simple sacrifice for the country, but let the officers and soldiers of the brigade wake up, re-understand and learn war, let the comrades-in-arms retain their lives, let the battle lead to victory, let the reputation of the flying tiger stay in southern Xinjiang, and add another page of glory to the military history!

The reconnaissance brigade drew cadres from all over the army to form a leading organ, and formed four special reconnaissance companies with the reconnaissance companies of the army and three infantry divisions as the mainstay, and strengthened a 100 mortar company. However, because the troops have not fought a war for more than 30 years, and the servicemen in peacetime lack an understanding of the battlefield, and the soldiers' sense of honor has always inspired the officers and men, the various companies in the early stage of the operation were somewhat anxious for quick success and quick success, and each of its own reconnaissance operations was fighting for its own battles and showing its own abilities. It is really as people often say: "The situation is unclear, the determination is great, the enemy situation is unclear, and the confidence is enough." The battle lasted not long, four companies attacked one after another, three companies were blocked, two soldiers were killed in the operation, and more than a dozen soldiers were injured. On New Year's Day in 1987, the bad news of Fu Pingshan's heroic sacrifice in a combat operation to cover the evacuation of his comrades came from the direction of Tianpeng of the Fourth Company!

Fu Pingshan's sacrifice made the brigade gloomy, and the company was even more panicked and afraid. In those days of drizzle and clouds, every cadre and soldier was so confused and helpless. We sacrifice our lives but have no achievements, we have the courage to sacrifice but cannot win the victory, and we watch one young life after another fall wounded and fallen around us. The long hair was messy and sorrowful, the beard had aged the face, and the mouth was full of the bitterness of burning tobacco.

If the fight continues in this way, it will certainly have to pay a greater price, and the brigade is forced to stop all reconnaissance and combat operations and sit down to seriously sum up. The company also held branch committees, soldiers' meetings, and squad meetings accordingly to carry forward military democracy, find out deficiencies, draw lessons, and broaden their views and brainstorm. The Political Department instructed the company to carry out re-learning in mobilization, to lift the spirits and boost morale.

War has its own internal laws, Chairman Mao earnestly taught us: "Do not fight a war for which we are unprepared," and Marshal Liu Bocheng has a famous saying about war that "the five elements are uncertain, and the defeat is clean." How can we not pay the price of blood and lives when the situation of the enemy is unclear, the terrain is unclear, the weather is unpleasant, the officers and men have an ominous mental endurance for war, and the people in minority areas are complicated and dare not rely on the masses of the people. The enemy's situation, the terrain, our feelings, the people's feelings, and the weather, we have violated the most basic laws of war!

By carefully summarizing up and down and repeatedly looking for the causes, we found the crux of the failure. In terms of operations, strict pre-war reporting was carried out and unified command of the brigade was implemented; In the use of arms, artillery, engineering and signal corps are intensively used; humbly learn from fraternal reconnaissance brigades and border guards; Strengthen ties with local governments and go deep into ethnic minority villages to understand the situation...... We have blended in with the war and the people, and we seem to have returned to the war years and truly experienced the great thesis that "the army wins the war and the people are the backers."

The whole brigade regained its strength and confidence, and with the help and support of the border guards and the local ethnic minority people, the company quickly found a fighter plane. When we discovered the fighter plane, we did not take it upon ourselves to calm down, and the brigade and company organized relevant personnel to arrive for reconnaissance and find out the pattern of the enemy's activities; Analyze the terrain and weather, study the plan, and carry out combat grouping; Sand table deduction, repeated drills in similar terrain; carry forward military democracy and improve the program; Organize pre-war combat mobilization ...... We followed the basic laws of war, we took the initiative, we adapted to the war, and we won the victory - the brigade won consecutive battles, won eight battles and eight victories, captured 11 enemies, killed 178 enemies, obtained intelligence in 111 cases, and I did not suffer any casualties!

Learning war in the midst of war, we stepped on the blood of our comrades, wiped away our tears, and marched forward bravely! We have lived up to the sacrifices of our comrades-in-arms, and we have lived up to our own glory of the years!
