During the May Day holiday, Xiangyang Library used books as the medium to carefully create a series of activities of "Meet Xiangtu and Enjoy May Day", and organized more than 20 online and offline reader activities such as cultural lectures, film exhibitions, special exhibitions, reading sharing, and parent-child reading, adding a touch of book fragrance to the hot cultural tourism market.
According to statistics, from May 1st to May 5th, Xiangyang City Library, urban study rooms and urban branch libraries received a total of 30,763 readers, and 12,653 books were borrowed and returned.

The "Xiangshi Suishen" Library Alliance carried out the "Four Cities Joint Reading, Reading and Mushuxiang" recitation activity, and the libraries of the four places jointly recited the poem "Beautiful China", showing the rich cultural and tourism resources of Xiangyang, Shiyan, Suizhou, Shennongjia and other places and the fruitful results of the integrated development of the "Xiangshi Suishen" urban agglomeration. "Shaotu Classroom" brought the children the "Little Red Riding Hood" picture book drama performance, "Twenty-four Solar Terms - Lixia" science popularization interaction, the children actively participated in the exhibition, the atmosphere was very warm, laughter. The "Qi Yue Reading" reading club launched a "Hongyan" reading sharing class, organized readers to read "Ten Lectures on Chinese Characters and Chinese Culture" and "Understanding Immunity" online, and spread historical stories, traditional culture, and scientific knowledge to readers, so that everyone spent a festival full of cultural atmosphere.
Movie exhibition and broadcast, helping the whole people to read
For five consecutive days, the "Light and Shadow Picture" screened wonderful movies for readers in the audio-visual room on the first floor and tasted the art of film together. The film exhibition carefully selected classic movies such as "Piano of Steel" and "Puss in Boots 2", which are not only highly entertaining and ornamental, but also full of educational significance; not only let readers enjoy different visual feasts, but also allow them to broaden their horizons and cultivate their sentiments in entertainment.
Volunteering, scholarly you, me and him
During the opening of the "May Day" library, volunteer service activities were also carried out. Under the training of the library management staff, the volunteers put the books on the shelves neatly according to the bibliography and arranged them, and provided readers with access to the library and the use of self-service equipment in the library and operation guidance services, contributing to creating a comfortable and clean reading environment. At the same time, the volunteers also carried forward the volunteer service spirit of "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress", helping readers develop good book borrowing habits and let them feel a strong cultural atmosphere.
