The 2024 Tang You Cup will end on May 5 in Chengdu, Sichuan. In the just-concluded Thomas Cup final, the Chinese men's team played by Shi Yuqi, Liang Weihang/Wang Chang, Li Shifeng, He Jiting/Ren Xiangyu defeated the Indonesian men's team with a total score of 3-1 and regained the championship!
This is the 11th time in the history of the Chinese badminton team to win the Thomas Cup, the highest honor in the World Badminton Men's Team Championships, and the second time since 2012 that they have won both the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup.
The last time the national team won the Thomas Cup was in 2018. In the 2021 final and the 2022 1/4 finals, the Chinese team was eliminated by the Indonesian team twice. This time after 6 years, the national team won the cup again, and while "revenge" on the Indonesian team, it also injected more confidence into the trip to the Paris Olympics.
During the Paris Olympic cycle, the pattern of world badminton has changed a lot. Although the strength of the national men's team has improved recently, it is still surrounded by strong opponents on the road to the Olympic championship.
