South Korean politics, however, is not forgetful.
Just after the ruling party lost the parliamentary election, the backlash ensued.
On April 11, the votes for the 22nd National Assembly election were counted, with the largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) and its satellite parties, winning a total of 175 seats, maintaining its position as the largest party in the National Assembly, while the ruling National Power Party and its satellite parties won only 108 seats. The pattern for the opposition camp to gain an absolute majority of seats has been determined.
The current parliamentary election has further expanded the power structure of South Korea's "small and large government" and deepened the political antagonism in South Korea.
Lee Jae-myung's resounding victory in the National Assembly election strengthened his position within the party and laid the foundation for him to run for president again in three years.
In addition to his old rival Lee Jae-myung, there was also a "Motherland Reform Party" of Cao Guo, which won 12 seats in one fell swoop and became the third largest party in just one month. And the slogan of this party is "Thoroughly investigate the Kim Keon-hee case, Yoon Suk-yeol step down."

However, Yoon Suk-yeol exercised his veto power despite the majority of the public's call for the initiation of the "special prosecution bill", and Kim Keon-hee was not prosecuted in the end.

There are many things that have not been forgotten by the South Korean political circles and people.
Kim Keon-hee was suspected of falsifying her resume: when she applied for a position at Suwon Women's University in 2007, she claimed in her resume that she had been a director of the Korea Game Industry Association for three years since 2002, which was only established in 2004, and that she had won the Seoul International Anime Festival Grand Prize in 2004, but she was not actually the winner. However, the South Korean police decided not to pursue his criminal responsibility on the grounds that the evidence was insufficient to constitute the crime of fraud and that the statute of limitations for public prosecution had expired.
Kim was also suspected of falsifying her paper: in 2009, she published a paper on advertising and media in Korea Design Forum, the core journal of KIC in South Korea. The paper "is not a simple plagiarism, the data of which fits a forgery without investigation". Kim then retracted the article and admitted his academic misconduct in disguise.
At the beginning of 2023, South Korea's MBC TV exposed a 7-minute recording of a conversation between Kim Jianxi and a reporter from the "Voice of Seoul", in which she promised the reporter that if she was willing to contribute and finally let her husband be elected president, she would "pay" a huge "reward" of 100 million won.
Last year, Kim Keon-hee's mother, Choi Eun-soon, was sentenced to one year in prison for forging a bank balance certificate.
Therefore, the scandal-ridden Kim Jian-hee chose to avoid the media. According to analysis, this is for fear of affecting the performance of South Korea's ruling party in the parliamentary elections.
However, the ruling party still lost the parliamentary elections.
At the same time, Yoon Suk-yeol's approval rating for his administration has dropped significantly.
In the 2022 South Korean presidential election, Yoon Suk-yeol won by only 0.73 percentage points to win the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, and his foundation is not solid.
After Yoon Suk-yeol came to power, he was not able to solve the various thorny problems faced by the previous administration, such as high housing prices in Seoul and medical reform that made it difficult to balance the interests of doctors and patients. As a result, satisfaction with governance has been hovering between 30 and 40 percent, and dissatisfaction has exceeded 50 percent.
In this regard, Yoon Suk-yeol not only did not try to solve the problem, but tried to find another way, always focusing on "values diplomacy", closely following the United States on various international issues, and ignoring the domestic people's livelihood.
South Korea's nominal GDP was $1.6733 trillion last year, ranking 13th in the world at market exchange rates, falling out of the top 10 again after three years.
At the same time, the South Korean government's fiscal deficit and corporate debt are also increasing. According to data released by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the South Korean government's fiscal deficit increased to 54 trillion won in the first three months of this year, which is close to the deficit forecast for the whole of this year.
What is even more disappointing for the government and the opposition is that after the Yoon Suk-yeol government came to power, it did not fulfill its promises during the election campaign and carried out dialogue, contacts and coordinated governance with the opposition parties, but instead adopted "high-pressure policies" such as suppression and exclusion. For example, he did not see Lee Jae-myung for two years! This further exacerbated the antagonism between the conservative and progressive camps, which were already deeply opposed.

So, do these behaviors of Yoon Suk-yeol's family have any impact on Yoon Suk-yeol himself?
Under South Korea's Anti-Corruption Act, any public official who fails to report to the head of his agency after knowing that his or her spouse has received prohibited money or valuables will be sentenced to up to three years in prison or a fine of 30 million won. If Yoon Suk-yeol is convicted of violating the Anti-Corruption Law, he could be prosecuted and punished after he leaves office.
