Green dyeing eight steps of sand

Babusha is an aeolian sand mouth on the southern edge of the Tengger Desert and in the north of Gulang County. There used to be no grass here, and the wind and sand were raging. In order to protect their homeland, in the early 80s of the last century, six local elderly people pressed their handprints on the contract and vowed to exchange their gray hair for an oasis.

In the past, the wind and sand mouth have become an oasis today. Over the past 40 years, the Babusha sand control people represented by the "six old men" have taken root in the desert, controlled sand and afforestation, and successively completed 310,700 mu of sand control and afforestation in Babusha, Heigangsha and the northern sand area of Gulang County, managed and protected 450,000 mu of sand and cultivated forests and grasses, completed nearly 200 kilometers of channel greening, more than 5,000 acres of farmland forest network, planted more than 60 million seedlings of various types of sand, more than 10 million seedlings of flowers and landscapes, and built the "Great Green Wall" in the vast Tengger Desert with hard sweat It also brings a better living environment to the immigrants in Gulang County.

"In recent years, I can clearly feel that the natural environment has been greatly improved, in the spring the wind and sand are getting smaller and smaller, the sandstorms are gone, the climate is not so dry, and the environment we live in is getting better and better, all of which are thanks to the results of sand control and afforestation in Gulang County. Therefore, we should also take active action to contribute to desertification control and afforestation, and protect our beautiful homeland with practical actions. Wang Chengcheng, a villager of Xingmin New Village, Xinbao Township, said.

The sand sea gives birth to gold. With the gradual management of desertified land, modern agricultural production methods are also in the ascendant in this land, allowing the immigrants to taste the "sweetness" brought by characteristic industries.
